Ride Comfort & Kick from the engine
Ride Comfort & Kick from the engine
I'm not sure exactly from when but I experience rough and rattling ride. I've got new rims (18") and new tires (Kumho Ecsta?). Comparing to my friend's identical TL-S, it is noticeable to me. Would be fixed if i get new cambers? Also, I'm thinking of getting coil overs, will i need both coil over kit and camber? I'm sorry if it doesn't make sense but it's been only a few months since I started getting into modding cars
(just installed AEM intake like a month ago and getting anti-roll kit soon from GB ^^)
Another issue I have is that when I start the car, I feel a kick coming from the engine. It happens chronically maybe every 5~6 secs? It is gone once I shift gear to Reverse or Drive. Again, comparing to my friend's TL, it is very loud and has spinning noise (some kind of belt in the engine?).
Please help me here

With larger rims comes a stiffer ride. The aspect ratio of your tires has decreased thus the less cushy ride because their is less air between your rim and the pavement. Less cushion. You should feel more in contact with the driving surface thus allowing you to react better and you get more from the driving experience. Suspension moding is always a trade off between comfort and handling. You have got to decide what takes precedence. Looks and feel for the road(big rims), a tight stable chassis(sway and strut braces), and responsive/stiff struts and springs. If you want a cushy ride....the OEM sway and strut bars should be fine, along with the OEM 17's and shock/struts. With suspension you cannot have your cake and eat it too (great handling and a cushy ride). They key is to find the right combo of mods that provide you with the aesthetic you want (say big rims and a drop), with the amount of ride comfort desired. It's a tough thing to do.
