OK im actuaslly sitting inside of rick case right now, al ittle pissed that i couldnt find a cl with a 6 speed but thats another sdtory. anyways they handed me the parper about the local kid that did the 3.5 conversion.

THIS IS NOT A SWAP.

Basically he just took some compoinents, ie. pistons, and swapped em in 315hp ... you all know the deal

RICK CASE IS NO LONGER DOING THIS. I was told by the manager that it was a one time deal to experiment with the potential of the motor and the exchangeability (is this a word) of the components in both motors. However they did tell me the following, APEX AFC and aother typical stuff they would be more then happy to install and fully warrant.

Just thought I'd let everyone know. Unelss you have an in with Rick or Rita (his wife) I dont think your going to be able to get the 3.5 components installed and warrented here

Isn't Rick Case the dealership that was working on "mystery" mods I & II?

They seem to be into performance tuning.

Too bad they gave up on us 2nd gen's.

 

Let me get this straight... swapping parts out of a C35 RL engine and putting them in a J32 ??

The C35 is a 90 degree V6 with no VTEC. Somebody please care to explain this?

 

Nooo ... Its swapping out the bottom end of a 3.5L Honda Pilot or Acura MDX. The engines are so similar that its basically a bolt on.

One of the service techs at Rick Case was doing it for awhile ... but he left Rick Case, so nobody is left there to do it. Thats why they're not doing it anymore.

TypeR over on Acura-CL.com has the 3.5L upgrade in his CL-S.

I believe Dean will sell all the parts needed for the 3.5L upgrade, then you just need to find someone to install it for you.

 

Just to clear some stuff up, Dean's 3.5L is different from Doug's (Rick Case). TypeR has Doug's 3.5L and his car is pretty damn fast with some other stuff. Best time so far I think is a 13.7 @101 or something.

Doug had also been working on a few projects but stopped and left rick case. These mods were known as mystery mods. I think last we heard from Doug he had moved to the northeast and works at a MB dealership.

Yeah, the J35 engines definitely have some potential.
