"resetting" your ecu?

so i was reading a thread a few nights ago (cant remember which one) and somebody had posted about how after every MOD they do they unplug the battery, let the car sit for 10 minutes, restart the car, let it sit without touching the gas untill the fan starts, then turn the car off and it "resets" your ecu? am i wrong? they said it helps the car get used to the differences or something (sorry im not realllllll smart about cars) but they also said some people do this every year when the season changes due to the differences in gas and such..... anybody have anything to say to this?

You can do that but its not necessary. Instead of going through that 20 step process, you can just as easily pull the "CLOCK BACKUP" fuse on the passenger side fuse panel to reset the ecu. Or you can disconnect the negative terminal on the battery.

There is no need for all that other foolishness.

Only after a mod that effects the engine intake or exhaust or rev abilty
Then do a reset so it relearns the car
fuse #12 clock backup fuse is the real power source for the ECU- Engine Control Unit

No need to reset it for removing the mid muffler.
