Can someone please tell me how to reset my check engine light?

take off the negative terminal on ur battery for bout 5mins put it back on and let it idle
and if its gone ur fine, if it comes back on somethins up wit ur car,

 

You can try removing the (-) battery cable but you can also remove the ECU fuse on the Passenger side for about 30 secs then put it back in or if you have a ODB II tool, you can read the code and erase it. The connector is under the ash tray.

 

Ive never really done anything with the battery before, my check engine light came on, and I want to try and reset it and see if it goes off for good. can I just take off the negative battery cable without doing anything else, or am I goin got get shocked if I dont do something before? Yea, when it comes to engine stuff I dont work on it at all, body kits and stuff that I cant kill myself I normally do. Thanks in advance.
