Replacement air filter
From what I've read on this forum, the AEM CAI will add 2 or 3 hp. K&N advertises that their filters add 2 or 3 hp also. I'm guessing that the same goes for the Comptech filter as well.
I chose to go with the simple drop-in filter rather than the CAI. I didn't want the added expense or the shrill scream that I've heard the CAI has. Just make sure you clean and oil the filter every 7500 miles or so.

If you don't take out the resinator, how is the sound effected? Less deep sound? Really thinking about getting the Hi-Flow Drop in filter..

I truly don't know what the bottom box does, but I didn't notice any change in sound when it was removed compare to when it was there. The reason I took it off, was to induce cold air.
The sound when replacing just the OEM filter with a high flow filter, comes from letting more air in the upper pipe. So removing the bottom box(resornator) won't affect the sound.
