Rent a car or drive my new TL?

Hi,

I am going to travel on July 4th from Philadelphia to Boston which (one way trip) is about 350 mile, 6-hour driving. I don't know if I should rent a car to save my baby or just drive my brand new TL (2300 miles on it)?

What do you guys think?

Thanks and have a nice holiday!

Isn't that what we bought are cars for? Besides, by the time you put enough miles on your car to actually kill it, everything else will be bad on it.

You bought a nice car to get driving enjoyment from it. Unless you spend big $$ to get a luxury rental, your TL is better than anything you'd rent.

Definitely drive the TL. The TL is a GREAT highway cruiser. I have driven my TL from NJ all the way to FL and back (about 3000 miles round trip). As a matter of fact, I am driving my TL up to Ontario, Canada for the 4th of July weekend (about 850 miles round trip).

i dont know about you, but i buy my cars to DRIVE them. If your car is meant to be a show car or something then I suppose you can rent an inferior car to drive...but whats the point right? Drive your car. sheesh.

I have driven every one of my cars to Colorado (1350 miles each way) and back once or twice a year. I've already done it with my TL once this year and may do it again in the fall. I'm in the "you buy your car to drive it" school; I'd rather drive the miles in my own luxurious car.

drive it buddy, believe me. if your not going to drive the TL, then why did you buy it for? i drove my TL when it had about same 2400 miles, from Chicago to Jersey, in 2 days i threw on 2000 miles, my type s ripped up the road and i had no problems, just be sure to clean the bugs off your front bumper and hood when you stop and get gas because they tend to stick to the car and they get harder to come off.

Drive it.

The only suggestion I have is to get a nosemask from the dealer before you go. It will ease the thought of rock chips.

If your car is properly broken in, then drive it.

I drove my CL about 1500 miles from Dallas to Santa Fe when I had only had it for a couple of months and 1900 miles.

i drove from san jose to LA for 1245 miles and I love it. I bought my car to drive not to sit at the garage. I think you should drive it also. Show off your new tl to people in boston.

I believe the normal break-in mileage for the tl/cl is 600 miles. With your mileage your car is broken in.

definitely drive unless 1) your car is a collectible 2) you're worried your car might break down 3) you hate being seen in your car 4) you love to thrash around a rental car 5) you like driving a car in which other ppl have puked, smoked, trashed in

These cars are pretty nice on long drives. What rental car would you have gotten that would be as nice??? Your engine is broken in, but if you are worried, just get an oil change before you go.

I bought my car to drive, not sit in my garage.
