Removing factory side skirts???

I just got my OEM skirt kit today and tried to install it also.

I'm having trouble removing the factory side skirts and was wondering if anyone has any tips in removing it.

Just to let you know all 4 bolts on the bottom have been removed and so have the mud guards. It's really the last step of sliding the skirt towards the front of the car in order to remove it that I'm having trouble with. Maybe there's a build up of dirt and sh** that's making in hard to slide.

Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Yeah, it's tough to get that thing off!
I actually used all my might to take that damn thing off, thought I was going to break it off. Use some gloves, get a good grip and pull your hardest towards the front of the car! Just make sure you don't break off the clips it's held on by!
You might want to use a rubber malot?

I installed my own sides... its easy as hewl!!! Just remove the screws near the front of the skirt, and 2 or 3 lil plastic things under it..... After that, just yank on it real hard and the clips will come out. After its pulled out, slide the clips out and put them on your new one.... now match up the holes and start hittin the skirt in. They will all clip back in the original holes easlily.

the skirts will not slide out. Just pull toward you. It might be tight and hard, but you just need to "jerk" it back and forth with a little force and it will pop right off.

A good idea is to have someone push while you pull. That made installing my friends skirts so much easier.

I layed on the ground next to the car, grabbed the big tabs that the screws went through to secure it to the bottom of the car, and pulled. They came off with minimal fuss. Just make sure to grab the tabs as close to the skirt as possible so you don't put extra stress on them.

Perhaps someone about to install the factory OEM kit could take some pictures and post them as part of Mr. Hyde's excellent text FAQ on body kit installation. That would certainly save a lot of threads about body kit installation. Any volunteers?

Actually don't pull... push, it's tons easier. Just sit on the ground,
stick your foot on the back of the molding and get it a push.
Just be sure to lay down a towel so it doesn't scratch when it pops
off.

Thanks for all the help guys. Hey do you think that spraying some WD40 will help loosen things up?

Won't hurt to try huh. I just scared that if I pull or push too hard that some of the tabs will break. Do you know how much those tabs go for and if I can get them at any hardware store or anything?

Two people make it 10 times easier. I got my right side off myself, but boy did it take everything I had. Then I got smart and called my little brother out and he added a little push and the left side came off fairly easily.

here... this is what I did.
Sit on the ground, beside and parallel to your rear tire and face towards your head lights after you have unscrew all the screws.
Kick the sideskirt forward, and .... vooala! You're welcome!

Don't worry, you won't... That's exactly what my main concern was before doing it... After taking approximately 3 frustrating hrs staying in the garage... I decided to do it the way a guy from the board mentioned (forgot who) and the result... was all~good.

Glad you got it off! Anyone who's doing this in the future, you place a board between the back tire and the skirt to force the skirt forward. This is much easier.
