Remove ashtray??

I have coins stuck behind my ashtray and it won't close all the way. Does anybody know how to remove the ashtray from the console of a 2002 TL??

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!. its not hard to remove the whole panel. just start off taking the wooden trims on the side. start unbolting all the screws. remember there are two screws inside the center console part.. open it up, take out that little carpetting and unscrew those things. pull the console part back to the rear seats.. and everything will come apart. then you can actually pull the whole ashtray part out. flip it upside down and shake!

How do you take the wooden trims off the side? It looks likes the wood trim and middle console is all together as one peice. Or is the wood trim removeable from the whole center console?

I have the same issue about my ashtray to, but also my 12v adapter / plug next to it also does not work, so I like to replace that also.

So anyone here can confirm proper technics to get this suker out? Thanks

I just got a small screwdriver (long & thin is best) and pushed around the top of the coin holder. I pulled out the little plastic piece above the shifter first, then opened the coin holder, and stuck the screwdriver deep and pushed the coins out. Usually, I find coins on top or behind the coinholder can be moved out without removing everything.
