Question Remote Starters..(Different Angle)

ShaguraTL once posted:
With the key strapped up under there, wouldn't that completely bypass the entire purpose of having an immobilizer?? Like if a theif tried to crank your car, even if he doesn't know the key/chip is under there, the code will still be transmitted and allow the theif to start your car. This is just a speculation of course. Just something to think about.
My dealer told me the same thing. That you would have to disable the immobilizer to let the remote starter access to the car's starter. Is this just a personal sacrifice for those who have or are interested in remote starters, or is there a way to keep the immobilizer active and still use one?

I don't know if I could sleep at night if I took away from the car's anti-theft features just so my but won't freeze for 5 mins.

well it would turn off the factory imobilezer, but if you have remote start then you new (better alarm) has its own that uneffected by the facorty, the cliffords have fuel cutoff, ignition cutoff (key) and starter disable

Thanks, guys. Anyone else have an opinion?

I already searched and not much covers this angle of remote starters.

Here is the thing with Clifford G4 all but the lowest models. They have Dual Point Wireless Immobilizer Built-in. Two circuits one for the starter another for the ignition system. Anti-theft measures allow the car to be driven only after G4 security system has been disarmed. This means the car will shut off if the alarm system is triped.
With the Clifford you also have another safety measure. The anticarjacking is always
armed unless you turn it off. This will allow the car only to be driven a short dstance(150 feet) even if they have a key.

if you get an alarm with the starter, you should be ok

ive got a remote starter ONLY with the factory alarm. i dont have a key in the dash anywhere. when i hit the start button on my remote, the immobilizer is temporarily bypassed for the 2 seconds that it need to be. otherwise, it still works normally

With my Viper 550ESP, the factory key immobilizer still works! I tested it right after I got mine alarm installed to make sure. So, if someone tries to start the car with the wrong programmed key, it won't start! Yet, the remote-start still work perfectly!

I think the key, no pun intended, is that the key that's strapped under the dash is uncut, like you Catholics. Hope someone gets my joke.

Anyway, if the key is not cut, the theif can't start the car.
