Redlined & "Malfunction Indicator Light"
I've read a few threads that deal with the M.I.L., however, my situation has not been discussed in such a thread. (Most deal with the MIL staying on, mine flashed for a few seconds...) It's probably nothing, but I just want to throw it out there.
I was starting off from a red light, went about 50 yards, when a dump truck merged onto the road to the right-front of me. It was leaving a trail of dirt/dust, so I wanted to get ahead of it ASAP. I was in SS mode in 2nd gear @ about 30mph. I gave it a little more than 3/4 throttle and I let it get up to about 6,200 before shifting into 3rd. Well, the car jumped a little bit once it made it to 3rd, and then immediately threw the Malfunction Indicator Lamp. It blinked 9 or 10 times, then went off, and hasn't come on since. Other than that, nothing happened or felt off. Was this just a one time thing, maybe too much fuel was getting pumped through. Fuel cut? I never let it get that high, but I half wanted to see how the car reacted, and I mostly wanted to get away from that dump truck...
(On a side note, from 2nd to redline to 3rd, the car pulled like a dog whose tail just got stepped on. The power came out of nowhere and threw me back into the seat. Seriously, I went from 30 to ~60 in a heartbeat.)

Let me inform you guy's, from what i've learned in tech school, a flashing MIL or CEL on an OBD2 equipped vehicle indicates a misfire condition, it flashes to let you know to pull over/let off or catalytic converter damage is iminent due to the extreme heat created by a misfire.
