Question red line

This is my first time driving an automatic gear. I know with SS we can go to the red line. But, is possible if we're driving with automatic mode we can reach the red line? Or it is only close to the red line?

Thanks.

Only close to the redline in automatic. But I hear if you shift down one gear in automatic, D3 I believe, that you can hit red, but why is that so important? It's safer to stay out of the red anyway.

I know hitting the red line is bad! That's why I am concern, b/c if I accelerate my car in automatic mode it looks like I'm hitting the red line.

for automatics, it'll shift while you're neat red line. that's why if you're really racing someone, use "SS" so you can control when to shift. a short period time of red line is okay...

The most embarrassing thing in the world: to be in sport shift, come to a stop light, and have the stereo playing loud so you don't notice that you're red-lining in first gear until the computer starts cutting back the RPMs to keep you from blowing up. "Why is my car driving so jerky? Why do all these drivers around me have painful looks on their faces? ... OH, $@#$%!!!"

I've done that at least 3 times. I'm getting better about checking when I pull away at a light now.

lol, yeah, when I first started using it, I kept doing that, but now, I'm so used to it even when I turn the music so loud.
