RED LIGHT CAMERS
..i am MAD AS HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!,just got home and opened the mail, and look my car's ass is on Candid Camera!!!!! these things are a fuggin nuisance........$75.00, i remember this night too, i went through the light and was way through it, when it was yellow, and it still flashed god dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am goin to court,i know it is a wild chance , but people have been getting off here in maryland, because some of these cameras are extremely trigger happy.....anybody heard of that cover you can put on your license plate that glares your license out in the event of a flash.....if so where can i get it????????????????????????????? this is insane...anybody else get one of these
Get the photo license plate frames. They're like $20 but pics from those cameras don't develop. Be careful though, I'm sure they're not legal

Did it ever dawn on you that yellow means slow down instead of floor it ?? If you'd have stopped, it wouldn't have flashed. If it had turned yellow and you were too close, then it wouldn't have been red by the time the tail of your car was past the white line on the other side of the intersection before the light turned Red.

How can they prove you were driving? I mean, the car is pictured, but ANYONE could be driving it. If it were your parents car, they would get the ticket, but were not driving. So how can the state give a ticket to a car? I have not seen these cameras, but I would claim that a friend or roomate was using the car. It's not like the cops or judge could force you to say who it is. Just lie this time and don't do it again!!

Take your own advice. For one, I doubt you could have known if it changed while you were under it. Was it a center mounted light or over the far side white line ?? You have to be 100% THROUGH the intersection in your car's entirety to count. If your BUMPER was in the intersection when it turned red, you ran the red light. If you were way thru it when it supposedly turned yellow, you wouldn't have been in the coverage range of the lens by the time it turned red.
And your brilliant whining and cussing and defense of your driving skills just makes your maturity level shine. Glad to know such class shares the likes of a classy car.

Besides, I'd rather a ticket from the camera than a cop, if a camera gives, it's a $75 fine, if a cop gives, it's $75 fine and 2 points for a moving violation.

Big Brother Is Watching.
This is such a bunch of crap. There is no way to prove who was driving, but it is OK to fine. Bull. I think that the states are looking for new ways to GAURANTEE more income and revenue. And Shoof, I know the ins and outs too (Police Cadet), and I still think it's bull. If a cop caught the driver, the cop can use personal judgement. With electronics it is clearly a way of saying, give us more money for being one inch over the line, for driving one mile per hour too fast (photo radar), etc. etc. etc.
When does it end!?!

Nobody would do anything to prove you were driving, it doesn't work that way, all you get is a fine... speaking from experience.
Now if you were in Europe they shoot you in the face with the camera and you do get everything fine, points and whatever else they have...
And like Shoof the Cop said I also rather have the cameras shoot my picture rather than a cop giving me a hand made ticket!!!
P.S. I'm not a cop but wish I was, would've been easier to get out of the tickets...

BTW, along the lines of what J83 was saying, for those of us who have the Nav. system or Jo-Jack, who's to say that someone (big brother) isn't already keeping an eye on us?

Does anyone know if the systems in our car are trackable ?? I wouldn't think such a small antenna or system would actually transmit. True the Big Brother syndrome is frightening. And now due to 911 issues, all cellular carrierers have to be able to pinpoint any phone for emergency purposes, and then give that info to insurance who said you travelled more than the 10,000/yr you reported on your policy.. ICK.

I thought that the law usually stated that you ran the light if you entered the intersection with the light red.. i.e. if you pull into the intersection while making a left hand turn, and turn as the light turns red, you're not in violation. Correct or no?

In California, we also have red light cameras, and I am glad that they do. I am tired of morons blatantly running red lights. All the red light cameras here are clearly marked with a sign that says: Photo Enforced.
If it's a yellow light, theres no way I'm going to gamble, I'll stop unless I am doing above 40 m.p.h.
