Hi guys...
Thanks for all of the support and good time I've had during the past 3 years or so... But as of last night, my TL got in an accident. The whole front's about gone, including the passenger side fender, front door wouldn't open, car wouldn't start. I didn't want to see how bad it was, but I'm going to be taking some pictures hopefully tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's totalled this time for good, but I'm not sure... Well, if it's totalled and I can somehow get some mods off the TL, I'll sell the parts to fellow TL owners. So keep an eye in the For Sale/Wanted forum. I am for sure not going to get another TL if this one is totalled. I love it and all but there are certain things that make me regrete buying the TL in the first place. I really enjoyed the car and I enjoyed the friendship I made here at this wonderful place. I learned a lot of knowledge, not just about the TL, but many other things. I just want to say thanks to you guys.

It was me, my sister, and her boyfriend in the car. my sister didn't have a seat belt on and she was in the rear, so she had 2 lacerations on her face, about 20 some stitches total, the plastic surgeon took about 5 hours to complete the surgery this morning. me and her boyfriend are fine though... I have a courtdate to attend to because both drivers claim they had green lights so...

and what happened was I was travlling southbound on a 4 lane street, I wasn't driving, but we both saw the intersection in front of us, there is a car facing east, stopped, waiting to turn to go south. we came closer and closer, all of a sudden the car came out turning, went through the right lane and came over to the inner lane, so we hit it. Both drivers said they had green light and there was no witness so...

 

dang that sux dude, its good ur okay tho. you've had bad luck with the TL and accidents so maybe its just time to get somethin different. good luck!

Sorry to hear that I hope everything turns out for the better. Get someone to say they saw the whole accident so there is a witness. Other wises the case will get dismissed. Tell one of your friends to call the police and say he saw it but was in a hurry and couldnt stop.

 

Sorry about your accident....at least you guys are alright.

man i'm sorry to hear that red hot, i hope everyones okay. That's an unfortunate thing to happen to your TL, i hope you can salvage some of the mods and at least get all the money back from the insurance company....by then the 04' TL might be out. Good luck in the future...

 

thanks guys, but I doubt I'll get another 99-03 TL... If It's totalled that is... and if it's totalled, I'm going to find a nice used MB/Lexus/BMW/Jag/Land Rover... Maybe an SUV or something... After modding the TL to the extreme, I feel stupid for putting money in any car... It might sound mean, go fast, look nice, but it doesn't mean anything really... It just increases your chance of driving fast and putting yourself and others in danger... I can't believe I let my sister sit in the car without the seat belt on... This is so sad... I wish I were the one getting hurt... My sister has a job and everything, now she has to take a week off at least because of the accident... And also it was her and her boyfriend's one year anniversary... What happened? a nice car accident and 6 hours in the hospital getting stitched up... Ugh...

i hear you man, thats rough times. It's not your fault about any of this mess, other careless drivers are the cause of these kind of things. The car can be replaced, always.

And about modding your car, you don't have to put money into it to make it faster, you can put things in it for your convenience (navigation) or pleasure (dvd) to make it nicer. So don't just give up investing in auto's completely. I think when you get your next car you'll be back to modding again...

 

yeah, but I won't do performance mods though... pretty much doubt it, but I'll probably consider nagi or DVD, stuff like that, mp3 player... something practical and useful... plus since I'm considering like an SUV type of thing, performance mods are out of the question anyway.

The new TL's are coming out, everybody will be back at zero again. I'll still stick around of course, I mean I met a lot of people on here and it's a habit/addiciton to check on the forums here. Even if I get something other than an Acura, I'll still be around. Plus my profile's here, if some of you really want to ask me some questions, they know how to contact me right? like you, BlackShadow And UW TL hehe...

Well... Just came back from looking at the car. The TL is definitely totalled. The damage is mostly on the front passenger side. I'm going to describe this as best as I can since I didn't want to take any pictures... My heart shattered as soon as I saw the TL...

Passenger side front headlight is gone, don't know where it went... my custom grill is bent, front bumper is smashed in on the passenger side... Passenger side front fender is GONE as in non-existent... You can see the whole wheel and tire... The front axle is broken, the engine is moved, whatever ABS controller or anything that's supposed to be at the passenger side engine bay is all gone. I saw the windshield wiper fluid tank sitting in the backseat... the front passenger side door is smashed, cannot open it. front windshield gone, both front and rear passenger side windows are gone.
As for the interior, both air bags deployed, the glove box somehow is hanging out half way, the driver side panel is off. the damage is really bad...

I probably won't have any pictures of it, I personally do NOT want to see it again... I will not buy another 2nd gen TL because the only thing it'll do is remind me of this accident... As for the mods I said that I might take off and sell, sorry guys, no dice... I don't want to touch it...

 

Sorry to hear this Red Hot, there were not that many Fire pepper red tl's on the board to begin with. I'm also one of those old dino's who lurkes around, but rarely post. I'm glad everyone survived the accident, and i wish your sister a speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear about the accident...I feel the strength of your cars' frame and cowl kept you from further injury, a feature of our cars that I like. Maybe consider a CL-S? Hope too that your sister is OK.

REV-01: Thanks to all of you guys! I'm still coming to Hawaii on the 24th, and we're getting a lot better. I finally got some sleep last night because I only got 2 hours of sleep after the accident til yesterday... But my sister got her stitches removed today and the wound is healing up pretty well, so the scar should be minimum. Even though I don't have a TL anymore and I don't plan on buying another one, I appreciate you guys' actions. I have Samson's number and I will call when I am in Kailua. Thanks.

 

I'm sorry to hear about your ride...I totaled my TL as well about a month ago. Look for my thread with the subject "Your worst knightmare." I hope you and your sister are doing ok...best wishes to you in the future with whatever car you decide to get.

cause I didn't want to spend more money into a car that was made in 1990...

and I thought the TL might have some potential. My TL ran 13.5@104MPH before it was totalled...
