Reconnection with TL
So even I've been guilty of doing a lot of complaining on these boards recently as my 02 TL-P has been plauged with problems since I bought it with 33k miles in March this year. I took it to Nalley Acura in Atlanta every week for three months, that is, if they didn't keep it for two weeks at a time - and nothing ever was solved. In fact, they created more problems than they solved. Anyway, I changed dealerships to Ed Voyles Acura in Chamblee and in two days they did more for my car than Nalley had in 6 months. It's one lingering issue (blowing a fuse regularly) should be taken care of in the next couple of weeks just in time for the warranty to expire. The current mileage is about 48,500 and the warranty date of expiration is 11/26/05 so I guess the miles and dates are coinciding well.
Tonight I went for a drive. It's a cool 56 here in GA right now and I had just cleaned the car, did the tires and wheels, conditioned the leather and dash with Meguiars products (the leather on the front seats is new), and vacuumed the carpets so I felt like going for a drive with my favorite CD as my company. Now I understand if you listen to punk rock, metal, techno, alternative that the TL's factory Bose system isn't going to cut it for you. But I love my Luther Vandross and my Celine Dion and I put that mixed CD in and cranked it up and I have to say that the system plays with a ferocity and clarity that defies the number of speakers, their placement, and the watt/output numbers. I really enjoyed it, it sounds far better than my Accords factory system, and IMO, the sound is of higher quality(although less surround) than even the new TLs. But that's just my experience.
It was cool outside so I turned on the heated seats. The TL's seat heaters are less quick to heat and less hot when they do warm up than my Accords, but the seats are more comfortable and the heat is gentle - it felt nice as it always does on chilly days. It's also very moist and I was running through a lot of fogs so I turned on the fogs to work with the HIDs, and then turned on the mirror heaters to remove the mist from the mirror glass.
It was a very relaxing drive, and I found myself really loving my car again - I'd started to hate it after all its problems, but now that they're all solved, it's an amazing package and for the $17k I paid for it, I don't think this level of equipment and performance comes anywhere else.
BTW here is my list of what has been replaced under warranty:
-dash
-all speakers
-headunit
-passenger airbag
-rotors and pads
-driver seat leather
-passenger seat leather
-latches on armrest
-transmission and PCM
-left front power window regulator
-front and side motor mounts
-cupholder mechanism
-Bose equalizer
-Bose amplifier
-steering column casing
So I guess it's almost a new 2002 TL.

I have a fuel economy log from the car the TL replaced in my stable, a 99 Accord EX-L four-cylinder, and surprisingly there is very little difference in economy from it and the TL, sometimes the TL is better. The tanks are the same 17.1 gallons in size - so I'm not disappointed in gas mileage.
