Recommended Axle Brands or OEM?
Recommended Axle Brands or OEM?
Hey everyone, so I'm getting vibrations when accelerating between 40-50 and my mechanic said I needed to replace my axles. I wanted to ask if I should get after market axles or if I should get OEM axles? I'm sure a lot of people here have replaced their axles and the vibration while driving is kinda scary to be honest. Please let me know which brand you replaced your bad axles with, if it stopped the vibration, and where you purchased it from. Thanks everyone I really appreciate it.
Many things including the shafts can cause vibrations. Has your mechanic checked everything else and is absolutely sure that it's the axles ? If not, get the front end checked out by another shop. Then go from there.
Sounds good guys, I'll get a second opinion from another shop. Yes I have had the engine mounts replaced already but thats about it.
Fsttyms1 - Do you recommend any places that I can get axles with that 70% dropped price?
3.2tlc - What else should i be looking for and which shafts should i be asking about? My mechanic drove it and looked at the axles. He said I would need a replacement and he knew it was the axle because he has seen a lot of cases like this, but it doesn't sound like a very valid answer in a ways.

What year and how many miles are on your TL ?
Try rotating the tires front to rear. Perhaps ya have a problem with an unbalanced or out of round tire.
Could be worn suspension, steering, brake or even tranny issues ??? When was the last front end alignment check ?
Find a good local trustworthy mechanic to help evaluate the vibration problem if ya can't DIY.

2002 - 175,xxx miles
I have brand new tires on it and the stock suspension on it. The last alignment was last year when I got new tires. I also think my shocks are done so I might need to get new shocks also. Thanks tlc.
