I have a 2003 Acura TL-P and noticed lately that instead of both rear view mirrors tilting down when I put the car in reverse, only one mirror tilts down. I was just wondering what I need to do to fix this problem and how much it would cost to fix this. Let me know if this has happened to anyone else. I bet it is a simple solution, but knowing the Acura dealer, not a cheap solution...

you guys are lucky, mine does not do a thing. i think really all you need is the passenger side anyway. it's for looking at the curb when you are parallel parking.

Only my passenger side mirror goes down. It just started to happen recently. I have 130k miles on my 03 TL-P. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, but would like to fix it soon. I'll probably have to buy a new actuator if I can't fix it otherwise.

Yup. I just drove from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, up to San Francisco, and then back down to Los Angeles. After that road trip I noticed the driver's side mirror stopped tilting. You gotta love Acura.

 

wow you make me want to take my mirror apart now, cus my car never did that since the day it was bought brand new. my car is a very early model 03, (June of 02) maybe some later model 03s had the drivers side tilt.

 

AFAIK, you select which mirror you prefer to tilt down. This is the way it is in the 3G's, at least.

 

the driver side mirror does not tilt on the 2G TLs.

^ then the key you are using has preferences saved on 1 or 2, which is seat and mirrors.

Yeah, there is no way your driver side mirror tilted down. It is even in the manual that only the passenger side tilts down for parallel parking. In the BMW's that i have driven, only the passenger side tilts down.

The auto Tilt switch is for the passenger side. Driver's side can be manually tilted, 4-way directions; as well as passenger side.

 

The passenger mirror will only drop in reverse if the control switch is set to in the neutral position.
Try this before starting repairs.
