Rear Seal Needs Replacement Oh No!!!!
Okay, ive done some research on this problem the TLs been have with the rear seal needing to be replaced. I havent dont a seal replacement before but i have dont numours other repairs on both my 99 TL and 91 Camry. judging by the lack of space in the engine bay area, to change out the seal myself would be difficult if not impossible without taking the engine out.
Has anyone ever swaped engines, changed the rear seal, have any additional information i can use when i decide to tackle this problem. i have a shop available to me with everything just about i'll need. i know the parts are inexpensive. any questions, comments? please any and all information could help.
BTW the car isnt leaking bad enough to leave stains yet but i was hoping to tackle this before it became a bigger problem. i have an jive repair manual but is kinda general. thanks

You will have to remove teh tranny (which isnt that hard- Just really heavy) the motor can stay in the car with a floor jack under the bell housing side just for additional support. you will also have to remove the lower part of the exhaust to get the oil pan removed.

From the top of my head from when i last did it (would be the 2nd time i removed the tranny)
drain the oil from the engine, drain the tranny fluid. While under car, remove shift cable, and small protective plate(between tranny and engine) and remove teh 10 or so small 10mm bolts that hold the presure plate to teh torque converter, remove the half shaft nut (probably the hardest part) disconect all the wires on the tranny, (front bumper needs to come off )the strut forks, remove radius rods, remove , seperate the lower ball joints remove the half shafts, support engine (stock jack is more than enough-but car needs to be high enough for tranny to slide out from under car) remove lower subframe and t tranny mounts, support tranny remove remaining bolts. slowly remove tranny (double check on way out that every thing is disocnected)

Thanks guys.
As for time for a shop expect a honda tech to take a good day and possibly 2
for the DIY'er expect a full weekend. including fri nite. Its not hard, just time consuming having to take the trans out (which i should say i can now do in around 4 hrs or less- depending on how many soda breaks i take and whats on tv )
