rear dome light mounting studs

Hey guys . So I decided to take down some stupid monitor the previous owner installed in my TL to play PlayStation on.. Smh. Now I bout a light to replace it in the domelight spot only to find the threaded stud like grounding point for the switch ON position broken to where it can't even come through assembly.

Is it possible to remove those studs and if so how? Thanks

That's a bummer! I'm willing to bet that it's a bolt on the underside of the moonroof frame. Which is probably costly if it weren't discontinued. if it were me, I would find a way to weld a new stud on; or thread another stud into the remaining portion. I wouldn't go the route of a junkyard to replace the frame as it would require taking out a very unlikely fragile roof lining.

I was considering the welding route but not sure what solder will suffice. I already cut a piece of screw to act as a stud and tested it by using the nut screwd onto it and touching the boken pice in the roof and it works.

I'm not even sure how to maneuver welding it because someone has to hold the stud while I solder.

Yeah, I would consider threading a smaller bolt into the existing. the torque spec on that thing is probably so low that you won't need anything heavy duty to hold it (which is probably why the previous owner just left it like that).

You think I should drill it out? It's a 5mm stud.. So maybe it would need a 6 mm after I do drill it. I'll take a picture to show you what's going on.
