Have you tried a search on this topic?
In any event, different people will have varying opinions on whether or not it's worth it. Some people don't mind $1000 deductable on their insurance, others prefer $0, and some split the difference. You are trading finances for peace of mind.
Think of it this way: it's like insurance, and you are paying the $1200 betting that your car WILL break down. Do not expect a seamless continuation of your bumper-to-bumper warranty, because many things that are included for the first 4/50000 are not covered under the extended warranty. You are really only protecting yourself against a catastrophic, expensive repair.
One article I read suggested that people should NEVER buy extended warranties. Instead, it recommended that you take the money you would have spent on the warranty and put it in some type of liquid investment. Let it sit there and earn interest. If you need to make a big, costly repair, then you've got the money available. On the other hand, if nothing ever goes wrong, then you've turned a tidy profit!

Be sure to examine closely the start and end dates of the extended warrenty. Some warrenties include your current manufacture's period in the term. For example.. If you purchase a 5 year extended warrenty, you are actually only paying for 1 year because the 4 origial years of the manufacturer's warrenty are included in that, thus the name is very misleading. You still have five years of coverage "FROM THE DAY YOU PURCHASE" meaning 4 years from the manufacturer and 1 extended year, thats why they call it a "5" extended warrenty, does not mean you will get an additional 5 years. MAke sure you read the fine print.

Don't forget that the warranty is more expensive to buy once you hit 12k miles... so the fact that you're at 15k is probably why it's more $$. I've been pricing it around for my car (currently at 11k) and I've gotten prices ranging from $995 to $1195. I simply checked with about 4 dealerships and got the best price. Now they're all getting back to me to see if they can match each other's prices. FYI... I want the 5yr/100k $0 deductible warranty, so that's what my above prices are for. I really want to buy the warranty from PAA since they do so much for the boards, but if their price isn't the lowest, I'll just get it from who's is.
