Has anyone had a rattling sunroof fixed?

Theres an infinite number of owners here with sunroof squeaks, rattles, on the TL, including me. Bring it in to the dealer and have em fix it under warranty. I think there's even a TSB on it. I brought mine in, and still rattling. Gotta bring it in again.....

All Honda/Acura made have some kinda rattle somewhere. My CRX had a rattle on the window wiper. My del sol's had rattling tops. My S2000 had rattling seats. My Civic DX has rattling seats. My CRV has rattling somewhere in the rear. But I can say that these are nothing compared to driving in half the cars made after they have been on the road for 5 years... (example, try a VW)

Many times proper maintance alleviates the rattles

My rattling sunroof was fixed under warranty.

I had mine fixed last week. The dealership installed the teflon tape and replaced the visor. However, the rattles/squeaks seem to be slowly coming back. They told me if that didn't fix it, they would replace the glass and rubber gasket of the sunroof.

I had mine fixed under warranty on Sat. they put a thin special tape to stop this....it worked so no complaints...

Where is this special tape put on? Along the sunroof rim or on the rubber gasket around the rim??

I didn't see, but they said it was placed on the "track" of the opening.

sunroof rattles constantly. Have had it to dealership twice and still rattles. Last time they put some gooey stuff that got all over my car. Is it too much to ask that you pay $32,000 for a car and expect no rattles. Do sunroofs in all cars rattle, or is this an Acura problem? What can I ask them to do if they don't fix it this time? I am determined not to put up with this annoyance. They seemed to act like this morning when I took it in that there is not much hope of a fix. I asked for a new sunroof and they said it would rattle too. Is that a load of crap or not? Please any advice would be appreciated.

I don't know if all sunroof rattles, but my BMW sunroof rattled. At least Honda came up with a solution and made a special thin tape to solve this. BMW told me the sunroof was bad under my driving and I had to pay $600 to replace it if I wanted to stop the rattle.

Probably won't because you have the later batchs of X5's..
I bought one of the first 323ci's and it was nice up until the 36k free maintnence and warranty ended. After that all of the problems just started happening...No big problems, but problems that take away from your day. Don't worry your X5 purchase was a good one...just wish you hadn't traded in the TL-S?!? I drove the I35 yesterday while waiting for my car to be serviced on... I was not inpressed. The interior was nice, but not as surefooted as the TL-S..

I've had a sunroof in every car I've owned. 2 Integras(89,90), 2 Accords(95,98), Nissan Pathfinder(98), Chevy Tahoe (01)and now the TLS. The only 2 that have had a sunroof that squeaked or rattled are the 98 Accord and the TLS. I thought maybe the Accord had problems because it was the first year of the body style and the first year Honda made a sunroof that flipped/tilted up or slipped back into the roof. Apparently I was wrong as the TLS had the same rattling/sqeaking problem. Both the Pathfinder and the Tahoe had/have the tilt feature as well and neither of them had any problems. I think it's just a crappy sunroof in the TLS.

It's funny. People, I'm one of them, always talk about how American cars suck. Maybe I've just been lucky but my Tahoe has had fewer problems (none), fewer squeaks and rattles (none), and been to the shop fewer times (never) for repairs in 1.5 years and 32,000 miles than my TLS has in 6 months and 23,000 miles (sunroof, replaced tranny, water leak, warped rotors -- that's a lot of trouble for 6 months). But I still like my TLS much more than my Tahoe.

Mine rattles as well. I think that my rattle is actually the rubber gasket squeaking on the seal. I am going to try some sort of oil/lubricant that won't damage the rubber and see if it goes away.
