Rattle when accelerating

I have been having a rattle that sounds like its comming from the right side of the car, some where underneath the middle. This only comes when I accelerate. I can play with the gas and hear it when I push down, and then stops when I let up. Any ideas what this could be? It seems to be more noticable at lowet speeds and RPMs. I searched and the only thing I could find is the heat shield? Could it be muffler, etc.?

I got the same problem, its resonates esp. at 1.8k rpm. Sounds like rattling in the door or pillar.

Haven't had time to really look into it. Let me know if you figure it out.

I was on a long trip with my girlfriend and she tracked down the noise to my sunglasses in the sunglass holder.

So take it out and see if it still rattles.

I hope that helps.

Not necessarily. Small pieces can break loose inside and the cat will still function properly. Check the heat shields first. It's an easy fix.

Yeah the heat shields are not a necessity. Just don't park your car over top of dead leaves.

i think they are dual purpose though...the heatshields or 'cover' as in the parts manual. they are there so rocks won't fly up and puncture the cat i believe too, not just for a heat barrier. but if you want to risk a 600 or 1000 dollar part if you are a type S driver, take that cover off then.

Id like to see that thin little sheild stop a rock. If its strong enough to puncture the cat, it will blow right thru the shield with out even batting a eye.

I had this same problem, it was the heat shield for me located over the front right cam shaft. They replaced the shield under warranty and I haven't had a problem since.
