Rain-X Advice

I was searching through the old threads for info about Rain-X. While everyone said that it helps a lot during the day time, a bunch of people said that it produces a lot of glare during the night. Someone else recommended GlassPel, saying it doesn't produce the night glare. But the threads were a couple of years old, and so I was wondering if any of you use either product or a similar product now, and does it still produce the same type of glare? Or has Rain-X changed their formula to remove the glare? Thanks in advance.

Yup, RainX works perfectly fine for me. Never noticed any difference in nighttime visibility.

i used to have problems with rainx till i figured out the best way to apply it. i do one window at a time ( all 6) with plenty of rainx on a paper towel by buffing it into the glass in circles, then by the time you get to the same window again i reapply 2nd round. after it hazes and is ready i take a fresh paper towel folded up and buff it out, but i keep water slowly flowing over it while i do it. since i did it that way, i have no problems. it also lasts a while that way too. hope that helps

Shop I used to work at installed rain x on a lot of cars. I noticed that if you dont completely clean the window after the application it might leave some sort of haze. Otherwise I've never noticed anything other than a clear view (unless the windshield is dirty). Works well when it rains.

For me glare IS a problem with Rain-X combined with night, overhead lights, and water on the windshield. Using the wipers solves it, but causes philosophical dissonance.

I have never had a problem with glare, I have been using for over twenty years. My only problem is that you have to make sure you clean the window extremely well after putting it on the glass or you will get some serious streaks in your view, I clean the windshield twice after a treatment

One time I messed up while applying it, and I got streaks all over the glass. I had to wipe everything down with Windex and reapply.

As long as it's applied properly, there shouldn't be a problem. I put Rain-X everywhere including the rear view mirrors. It's good stuff.

No complain on Rain-X. I usually put in on Fall/Winter (raining season). It helps a lot regardless day or night. I have no noticed any glare while during at night.

Just my $0.02.

the people who notice the glare tend to be the ones who aren't buffing the rain-x out enough after applying it.. If buffed properly, the haze and glare goes away.

if applied properly there shouldnt be a issue with night time visibility. Ive been using it for 10 years+ and never had a problem. i clean and reapply every month. stuff s great
