Radio code not working
Radio code not working
i recently unplugged my battery to change and my radio got lock. i got the code card but is not working went i put it in, last time it happen they just put in in the dealer and it works but is not working with me is there any special trick to put the code????
You may have the wrong code if the radio has been replaced.
Try holding the 1 and 6 preset buttons and turn the radio on. You should have an U xxxx and a L xxxx (the x's will be numbers). You can call your dealer with this code and have them look it up through iN.

In my experience, persistence pays. I lost the radio when I replaced the battery. The first 20 times I went through the code procedure it didn't work, and I went to bed angry. The next morning the same code worked on the first try. Keep trying while you pursue alternatives.

I used to have that problem every time I unplugged by battery. I was too lazy to unplug the antenna so I just tried and tried to put in the code and eventually (by the 20th attempt or so) it took it. and then it started the taking the code on the 1st try. Very wired glitch indeed.

try driving it. I had this problem about a month ago...nothing worked. Tried the antenna, 1-6 hold down, got two new codes from the dealer and still nothing. Drove it to work and when I got out of work and started the car, suddenly it was on. Didn't hit anything, just decided to turn itself on and start working again. I did read that if the codes don't work, drive it around for a while and try again.
*raises the dead*
so i'm holding down the 1-6 buttons then turning it on, it isnt giving me a serial. i'm holding it while it's on and it still doesnt work. any ideas?
also, can the dealer look up the code just via VIN alone, i really really really dont wanna ass with removing the radio

^ Lazy guy. It takes literally less than 10 minutes. But I don't think they can give you the code by giving them the VIN number. Matter of fact, I dont think they can give you the code over the phone even if you had the serial number ( depending on the dealership itself ). They want to see if it wasn't stolen or anything.
from what the lady from the acura 800# said, the 1&6 trick only works on 01+ radios. unless you can find the code somewhere in the car(mine was on a sticker in the glove box) you WILL have to remove the radio to find the s/n and call the dealer. joe rizza in chicago had no problems with giving the code over the phone.

well that explains it. i got a 99. it's raining outside and to remove the radio you gotta remove panels and stuff, and half the time your legs are sticking out the door to squeeze in there. i'll check the glove box the next time i go out there. other wise i'll just sell some blood and buy a double din
This happened to me. I had no radio from DC to Harrisburg, PA. Parked in a parking garage, got no reception and the code took. I read thats why you should unplug the antenna when you do it. Or park in a garage/basement etc. Mine's a 2003 TL-S.
i really dont think they care anymore. our cars are about to be 10yrs old, the 99's anyways. and i know if i was working at the parts counter i would either A. not give a crap and give out the codes or B. say we cant give out the codes just because i'm lazy and dont want to work.
