Radio Code

Hi, I just had some work done on my car (New transmission) but since they disconnected the battery my radio is asking for a code. I turned it on holding down the 1 and 6 to get the serial number and called the Acura customer support and got the code m, but it didn’t work. Verified the codes with a local dealer, still not working. Any ideas for what I can do now?

You must remove the stereo and disconnect the antenna IIRC... There is a metric-ton of threads with the same subject and fixes.

Don't mean to annoy anyone but I gotta be a little more specific. I have my original cose but I have a replacement radio. Original code is not working. Should the replacement have come with a new code? Tried unplugging the antenna and inputting the code again, still no success. Can anyone help?

Pretty sure the code is specific to the radio, so if you don't have the code for that unit or the VIN of the car it left the factory with, then you are SOL. I may be wrong.

Your spot on Iggy. Acura Customer Care cross references the VIN and radio serial number to obtain the code. In order to get the code via. Acura, you need to provide both. It may be possible to get it from Bose, but i doubt it. radio-code.com claims they can provide the code, ( $17.00 FEE ) if the owner provides the radio serial number, and year, make and model. Acura ( For all 2001 and up vehicles )
  • Turn the vehicle's key to the "on" position.
  • Press the preset buttons 1 and 6 at the same time.
  • Turn on the radio.
  • A 10 digit serial number will appear on the radio display, (if stereo was locked up at the time).
  • There will be 10 characters in the radio serial #.
  • A U followed by 4 numbers and an L. followed by 4 numbers.
  • Example, your display will indicate, U5123 L1235.
  • Or will indicate all 8 numbers at one time. Example: 12345678.
  • Please document this number, as you will need this number for the form below (((CAVIEAT!))) I have never used this service, so i can't verify it. Another option: I believe, someone on this forum, posted a list of many radio security codes, which you could try, individually. Such an attempt may be time consuming because after several incorrect attempts, the security system will temporarily lock you out, for a period of time, before you can continue to enter more codes. I have never tried the Radio Serial Number retrieval method listed above, but if it works, it would beat all other methods of getting it.
