Do you like the K40?? How much did it cost you, with install??
I am debating the same K40 setup, or maybe the new Escort SR1 remote front/rear radar (not the one with a battery)....which I think is a bit less money, but gets better test results.
Thanks!

K40's are good. However, the bumper mounted sensors do not perform as well as the windshield mounted ones.
If you are running alone...then yes. In a pack, especially if you are in the middle, signals will be blocked by other cars.

For a cordless radar detector, check out the Escort Solo S2 for about $330 for http://www.escortstore.com/s2.htm.
If you shop around on the internet you could probably find a better price.
I currently have the Escort 8500 hardwired.
Check out this discussion for an example of how I hardwired my 8500.
The V1 and Escort 8500 are probably the two best on the market.
the Solo S2 is new and may be just as good as the 8500.
Nothing will save you from Laser. You will only get a signal when you have been hit. I have been thinking about trying out the Escort laser diffuser.

I have been using the Solo (the original $199.95) model for three years. It is more than adequate for casual use-certainly better than the things sold at Radio Shack or Target. Serious speeders would be well advised to cough up the extra money for the V-1, Passport 8500, or the Solo=2.

One way to save yourself from laser is to remove your front plate.
The police aim the laser at the front plate, for maximum reflectivity, and there is really no other place for them to aim at. They sometimes try to get a measurement from aiming at your headlights, but the curvature of the mirrors dramatically degrades the ammount of signal returned, if any at all, and also if your headlights are on, the infrared laser beam is completely absorbed in the light spectrum.
I have been hit with laser several times, speeding without slowing down, and I have just blown by the officer with the laser gun. The only time I have recieved a ticket was when I was driving my fiance's car, which had the front plate on, got hit with laser, and got pulled over.
The officer was cool, I asked him, (playing dumb) where did he aim his laser, he replied at the plate, because thats where they get the reflection back from.

i belive jammers and blockers are illegal and most cops will stop u upon getting back a false signal and then your gonna be in a heap of trouble . As far as radar detectors are concerned the v1 works well and i like the arrows and lazer detection it built into the unit as well ... if you want a nice custom install here is a link to a site which makes custom mirrors for the v1

That's not True, I have my front plates off since I got my car, and still got 2 tickets from a laser gun! Any opinion on the Rocky Mountain radar/laser jammer?
