Stillen = Comptech

Nismo = Mugen = Mazdaspeed = TRD

But MazdaSpeed and Nismo in North America is a seperate entity. They only take suggestions and some parts from their Japanese counterpart. For example, Mazdaspeed Protege actually use Callaway's turbo.

Nismo does have a SCharger for VQ35DE but only for the Z for now. It doesn't fit Alty or Maxima

Back to the topic, racing an Alty 3.5 and TL-S with auto trannies should be neck to neck. 5 speed should blow any 03 or older TL away. I know because I own one.

Alty is rated 240HP in 02 and 245HP in 03. But everybody knows any Nissan with the standard non-tuned VQ35DE engine produces 260HP/246tq. Take the Maxima and Alty on the dyno and the curves and numbers are indenticial.

And it's not that expensive to get 1 anymore. I bought mine with same equipment level as a TL-S non-Navi for around $31kcdn ($20.6kUS). That's a lot of performance for the $$$.

Yeah, yeah, interior is not as good as TL but if you take a 2nd look in an 03 Alty from the last 3-4 month, only the doors are sub-par. Everything else looks ok, not as bad as 02's.

OK! To everyone on this thread.....listen up! I had a post on the last page that expressed my personal opinion of a testdrive of a 3.5 Alty(it was not good) And of couse someone took offense to it!

SORRY

But you can't tell me that if you took a car on a testdrive and you put it in PARK and it rolls back 10 feet before you could pull the E-Brake and save the Salesmans JOB......that you would not think that it was of poor craftsmanship...(A.K.A) SH*t

Again SORRY!! Last time i knew i was in USA and entitled to my own opinion!

Ok, I don't know anything about "smokin" somebody in one car or the other, although I have had my share of "smokin" days. But, I just traded in my 2002 Altima 2.5S and let me say that little 4 cylinder with 170HP is a nice car. I only traded it because some lady with a ML320 smacked me in the parking lot and I just felt the car was now tainted. I am sure you guys know what I am talking about.

I drove the 3.5SE as well and it is a sweet ride, but overall, including the luxuries, I think the TL is the better buy. I do have to give Nissan credit for producing a great ride with nice power. The interior needs some work, although it is roomy as hell, and a navi option would be nice.

MHO.

at speeds over 60 mph, acceleration is not dependent on weight alone.
Aerodynamic drag has the greatest influence.
In particular, you expend a certain amount of the engine hp to overcome the drag, and only have the additional portion to peak hp for acceleration.
The biggest reason he was able to tailgate is that you were in front and let him catch up. He was drafting.
At over 100 mph nobody can "smoke" anybody. Drag sucks up hp geometrically.

I can assure you that RS6 or E55 will smoke your Altima/Acura TLS above 100mph even better that below 100mph.

No you haven't. Your car is not capable (in stock form) of beating a 2002+ Altima or Maxima. They have 15HP and 30+HP more and those cars weigh less. You also only have a 4-speed auto. You also will lose to my accord!

Hmm, i bought a second hand TL-P .. why? because i have to afford a house, two other cars and an airplane.. Sure, if i dumped the S2000 and the Cessna, i could buy myself a lovely top-of-the-line M5 or something to that extend. Obviously, i didn't

After my wife had me spent nearly $44k on a MDX for her, the S2000 we bought for fun driving and the $11k engine overhaul on the old lady Cessna.. there's not much left of the budget Mortgage on a $720,000 house in LA isn't cheap either.

We drive what we can afford, but what you can afford is often a compromise between a lot of factors!

On the Altima vs TL .. who cares whose wiener is bigger and/or faster... In the end, the TL is a much nicer car than an Altima. And most women prefer slower over faster in the wiener department

You have NO PROBLEM SMOKING CRACK, cause you did not beat any of those cars in yours.

If your car didn't share 48% of it's parts with an Accord, this would be funny.

how are u fagets gonna tell me what i have beaten......who carea about a taurus......my integra runs consistant 12.2-12.4 on drag radials at 17 lbs..i can easily turn it up to about 22 and run 11's on slicks...

the accord is a cheaper version of a tl...everyone knows it....look at the sticker price faggets...it might have some of the same parts but i doesnt have the same resale value..look at a 99accord ex,,,and look at a 99 tl.....accords suck.......so does people that buy honda's and come to acura forums and wish they can afford a 33k acura...

nissans are nice cars but not as nice as acuras.....just let it be known,,,,,i'd rather buy a 32k tl before i buy a 32k maxima that resales lik sh*t......

Besides, when talking about "faggots" and "smoking", maybe tight isn't the best word to use...

Haha man just relax. I thought you just had a 1999 Acura TL (because that is the only car in your signature!!!!) Your TL-S is not faster than my Accord V6. I have raced a TL-S that was stock and took it out by 2 cars to 90MPH. Not saying all TL-S' are like that but that was my outcome. Have you raced a new V6 accord? Go home and get your gay integra. It's your TL-S i am refering to which is close in performance to my car. If I wanted to be gay like you I could get my friend Kyle with a Civic Hatch B18C4 GSR J-Spec w/ Intake/ Header/ Exhaust and a 75 Shot. But its about my car and yours. Not your gay integra!!

Your Stock TL-S is slower than a 6speed Max!!! Plus your 4th gear sucks where mine is much shorter (therefore I will whoop your ass even worse there!!!)

Sticker price doesn't mean ****!! It is cheaper in price yes butmy accord is an upgraded version (new parts that are shared w/ the 04 TL and 04 Inspire which are much better and have higher quality materials than your TL-S (even though I love the TL-S). SO in the end you paid more for an equal car (pretty much). Except my car weighs 300+ lbs less and close to equal power!.

Nissans are not very nice. Just fast and sporty. Cheap parts and materials for the Altima and the maxima is even worse for the 5th gen.

Hey guys don't get me wrong in this forum. I love the TL-S and that is why I am here. PHAT32 went wrong when he said my car sucked. The resale value is just as the TL. In fact both TL and Accord have the best resale value next to Mercedes.

Didn't you read my post? I am here because I like the TL-S. Its Honda and I love Honda. Who says your car is nicer? It is nice but is it really nicer? You have memory seats and I don't but I have dual Zone Climate control and you don't we both have HID's and we both have Honda's. Relax man.........to say a thing like "**** you and your boy too" is gay on your part. I never said anything like that to you but you freak out when I am right and you are wrong. Are you imagining me and my boy in your head? It sure seems like it!

and you had to bring your gay integra into this when it was about TLS and Maxima and Accord. So your a hypicrite (shut up!)

Dudes, what is up with this "yours is better than mine deal" good grief. You guys sound like your 12 years old, how old are you guys anyway? Bottom line, you have a TLS because there were aspects of it you liked over the 03" Accord V-6 and that is it. My budget was a little bigger so I chose the better car for my money the TLS. If I was working with a smaller budget I defintely would have gotten the Accord hands down. It's the best in it's class as far as I'm concerned. In the end, both of our cars kick butt I don't care what anyone says.

Wow, you can get the 03 Accord with HIDs? Wish I had known that when I bought my Alti; the HIDs (or lack thereof) were a big deal to me. When I was looking at the Accord, you couldn't (or at least they weren't listed as an option anywhere). I was *very* close to getting and Accord Coupe, but the HIDs, the engine with more long-term mod potential, and the sheer arrogance of Honda dealers turned me away.

Although with everything I know now, I wish I'd just spent the few extra bucks a month and gotten a G35 Coupe, and gotten a proper RWD platform to begin with (Next time I'm not listening to my wife... Yeah right.)

Those two should just meet in person with a measuring stick, whip 'em out and measure 'em, and proceed to the nearest beer drinking contest for the next competition...

After reading thru this thread, it's funny how most of us faced the same situation before buying the TL/TLS/AV6. I was in the market for a '03 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE. But at that time (mid-July), it was impossible to find a white w/black leather, 5spd, HIDs, ABS (basically the "Leather Sport Package w/ ABS option). So I started looking into the '04 MAX w/ 6spd. The problem was the dealers in my region couldn't locate a 6spd w/ "Driver's Preferred Package" in the color Silver w/Blk lthr or Blue w/Gry lthr. I was like "holy jeepers Batman". Finally, I went to check out the '03 TL-S at the local Acura dealer. I ended up buying an Anthracite w/o Navi and I tell ya, I couldn't be happier. My favorite color, HIDs, and most importantly, memory seats (I'm about 6', my wife is 5'1) and I was sold. BUT, before all this, I was eyeballing the '03 Infinity G35 cpe, Diamond Graphite w/Graphite lthr, Aero Sports Package, 6MT. Since we're planning on starting a family, I figured the coupe was out of the question. Damn, Damn, Damn! Well, here's a summary:

'03 Altima 3.5 SE: Pros- drives pretty smooth, nice torquey motor, good interior and trunk space. Cons- rougher ride, taillights are a little trendy, and that arms rest just blows! You'll know what I mean if you've driven one...

'04 Maxima 3.5 SE: Pros- drives smooth, plenty of interior space, 6spd. Cons- notchy 6spd, tiny rear glass, too small of a wing...

'03 G35 Cpe: Pros- smooth acceleration, short-shift 6spd, Lovely body lines, but you gotta have the wing(Aero Package). Cons- tight rear seating(but it's a coupe), small trunk (it's a coupe)...

'03 TL-S - Enuf said! Wish it was a 6spd and had a compass on the rear view. Oh yeah, auto locking doors after 15mph would have been nice as well.

Four weeks and 1200 miles later, I'm a happy camper! Manufactured in 05/03, so hopefully the Tranny issue has been addressed. Sorry for the long post guys; I just had to vent and clear things up in my head. Later...

My 02 cents

I just traded in my 02 Max SE for the 03 TL-S - things I notice (not as a street racer or time trial boi or even a red light racer) -

02 MAX - it felt like a V8 - neck snapping in your face off the line omph (and torque steer to go with!). SE version the ride is harsher - not pick up truck harsh, but compared to the TL-S it's night and day. Handling - solid rear axle, nuff said, but I think the fatter tires and SE suspension give it great grip (off ramps at 60 - hold on to your slurpees kids).

03 - TLS - okay I thought it lacked that neck snapping good time, but I have not stomped it becuase I am still in the pre 1000 mile range. I just got a loaner CL-S to drive while they get the acid rain spotting out of my antharsite - it's an 01 with 48K so I had no reservation about stomping that - and I had me a big old grin -every bit as neck snapping fun as the 02 max. Handling - Double Wishbone, multilink - night and day from the 02 Max, I think the tires are thinner on the TLS - but still the ride seems much more solid, much less harsh

from a dumb old daily driver who likes to push em once in a while I can break it down like this - the 02 Max (and the 3.5 alt I drove) they seem to give you power all at once, but run out of steam at the higher end - the TLS seems to start off not as strong but brings more in the middle and end range - seem more like a solid delivery of power rather than a blast off (and don't get me wrong blasting off with the Max was fun - many a stang bit it from light to light)

I wanted to buy an Altima 3.5 SE ever since I saw the first commercial on TV. After test driving a couple, manuals and auto's, the TL-s is still a better machine. The Altimas scared me off with their cheap interior, and the styling, well, it's getting ho-hum. Take a close look and you can start to see the paint orange peel (which I have seen a few do - ON THE DEALERS LOT! lol...).

What made me chose the Acura? I would rather pay $22k for a $33k car with 2 years and a few miles on it, than pay $29k+ for a $17k base car.

The engine is nice. Throw some weight on the Alti 3.5 and it handles and accelerates like sh#t. Have fun with the torque steer! And it has the worst gearbox shift feel I have ever felt for a car in that price range.

Im not bashing the car. I still love it and respect it when I see it. But I feel like I get more bang for my buck with my TL-s.

my $.02

ecstasy_civic i agree the 3.5 SE Altima are faster not totally smokin TLS but it is faster but TLS looks way better and the mods looks nicer my opinion but. I myself raced a 3.5 Altima and i was really suprised that I couldnt pass that car 495 South about 1 or 2 in the morning, no mods.

Quick Reply: Raced a new Altima 3.5
