Now we have Altima that runs 1/4 mile in 13.6. That's and 2002 E55 range. I am speechless. BTW removal of car parts does not make much sense unless you always drive w/out them.

Come on people, why isn't it possible for an Altima to run a 13.6? After all, there're Ford Focus' that run sub 10.

I didn't say it wasn't possible, I totally believe the numbers I see posted. And that is awesome that you can squeeze that much power out of it. But how much are you willing to spend to do that? Considering, you can't be living that large driving an Altima...

Well, isn't the whole point of modding to turn an inexpensive and mediocre vehicle into a performance machine with unbridled power?

I guess for me I had a limit. But to each his own, I'm sure it's fun driving a 4dr. on the street with that type of horsepower. Be careful and buckle it up!

Considering, you can't be living that large driving an Altima...
Not necessarily true, but funny as shi+ nevertheless!

I, too, find it stupid to take out seats, door panels, etc. to make your family car run faster in the 1/4 mile...What's the point? If that is what your intentions were, why would you ever buy a TL-S, Altima, etc to begin with???

The 13.6 time I think that I saw was doing these things in ideal weather conditions. Simply stupid...I bet the guy has no more than what I have--about $4500 with all my mods and install, and likely less than me...His car is a little to the extreme as well as most posts clearly aren't where the claimed c&d numbers are either...Most stock posts w/ slips I saw were in the 14.2-14.6 range with most modded posts being around 14.0-14.5...

I saw someone earlier saying a stock 5sp Altima is quicker than a stock CL-S 6sp and that certainly isn't true. Likewise, there are lightly modded guys in the 14.0-14.3 range on the CL-S board with the heavier modded guys either silent on times or obviously with mods the rest of us don't have (Type-R and allmotor_2000 for example)...

Either way, I'd be the first to admit my modded TL-S versus an Altima 5sp w/ i/e/race pipe would be beaten (even if the Alti keeps its seats)!

Well, he pretty much has the intake/exhaust/pulley enhancements (or did at the time). That's certainly less than $1000 in mods.

Without going into details, let's just say that your assumption isn't always valid. We all buy cars based on "what we can afford." How we determine "what we can afford" is very culturally dependent. It all depends on how you were raised, how much you were taught to save, and how much you were taught to borrow. Without any specific references to myself or otherwise, I would caution that what many people drive and what they can afford are not always related in ways that you might expect.
Spending as much as you possibly can for a car isn't something that, a traditional Asian-American would do, for example (not saying I'm Asian, just citing an example)...

True, tearing out seats and parts of the car just to get a better time is just plain lame. The only reason for doing that to a family sedan is bragging rights.

Fromaltimas.net, he is only speaking from his personal perspective. Don't let him get to yah. So why would you label us all "stuck up bastards" because of him? And are we called "stuck up bastards" because we drive nice cars? I'm not sure I quite understand.

My bad i knew i should have thought before i posted, It's just bad apples like him that ruin a whole forum. I mean most of the people who have replied here are being decent and nice and not bashing nissans. But then theres this guy who starts saying their ****... i mean on altimas.net we don't ever say anything about The TL because we know people work hard for their cars, and we can respect that. But i mean come on I'm giving an inch and he's taking a mile

Heh. Well I personally like Nissans. They're perfect for people in my age group, 20-30. I like their aggressive and forward stylings, but their interiors need some work. Not to say that our TL's have the best interiors, but you do get what you pay for...with Japanese cars at least. Can't say the same with European and American cars.

LOL, that reminds me of a little run in I had with an insecure hic.

A few months ago I was waiting at a stoplight listening to my "Snatch" soundtrack. It happened to be on the "Lucky Star" song. My windows were down and pretty much everyone could here it. Anyhow, a lifted Ram truck stops next to me and muffles the song with its loud-ass engine. Since I happen to like Madonna, and this song in particular, I turn it up pretty loud so I could actually hear it.

A second later, the passenger in the Ram leans out the window and shouts " hey faggot, turn that sh!t off!". So instead of flicking him off or yelling back at him, I just pull down my shades so they're half off my nose, wink at him, blow him a kiss, and tell him how cute he looks angry.

Oh my God did that set him off. And then I dusted them as the light turned green

Fromaltimas.net, why type of brakes you got? Are you going to upgrade as your hp increases? Does Stillen have a charger for it yet? What do you think about their mods?

Stillen is very good and they make lots of quality stuff. I'm not sure if they have a charger but i'm sure they will soon.

As far as my car goes it's just like off the showroom floor, i've done nothing to it.

Wait, is Stillen to Nissan as Comptech is to Honda/Acura? I thought Nismo was the company that made parts for Nissan.

Does Nissan have anyone like Comptech or TRD that won't void it? I said the same thing about my Civic and before the first year I had already dropped it, exhaust and bigger brakes. By the 3rd year the SOHC was gone and was pushing a DOHC. Warranty issues are so rare with our rides. But I truly understand your concerns.

As far as I know, that agreement between Comptech and Honda no longer exists. Some dealers, apparently, still honor the agreement. Though which ones do, I've not the foggiest.

Stillen makes mainly for Infiniti/Nissan but I don't know if it voids or does not void your warranty. But they make things for Hondas too.

Nissan dealers are notorious for busting balls on service visits and warranty issues when you mod your car. Just awful...

The Nismo stuff is supposed to be sold soon at the dealer, but as far as any service contract is concerned with those parts, I have no idea. I think they are more geared to the Z for now, anyway...

Stillen is making a lot of parts now for Nissan and Lexus models, so the aftermarket war is really getting cranked up for cars outside of the typical "rice rockets" we've seen.
It's gonna be neat over the next few years as car models change and more aftermarket support comes to the scene.

And you altima guys should beware...there are quiet a few bad apples on the site and certainly one rotten apple...Come to think of fruit, you might also want to watch out for fortunate (jsut kidding)!

I know, I'm just busting your balls (not there is anything wrong with that). I just couldn't resist!

There is an annoying @$$hole on a-cl, Tom2, that just goads everyone about everything...Kinda like your little story, I told him he'd be a lot better off in life if someone just came along and cornholed him and of course, things just took off from there. I'm secure in myself, what do I care? It was just as hillarious as your little incident, though and has him all phobic now...

When I was car shopping I looked at the THEN brand new Altima. It was nice, but when I saw the sticker, a well equiped A but without Leather and no Navi, was 28K I left. If you don't get the 4 banger with cloth you will get killed on resale value. It's STILL just an Altima, no "status" to keep resale up. Not that Acuras "Status" is any better now.

Your car would definately wipe the floor w/ mine NO Doubt! I'm not knocking Nissan, hell I ALMOST bought one....only badged INFINITI G35.

Oh and guess What i'm an A$$hole and not stuck up
