Quick Spring Question

Ok, I put on Comptech Springs when my car had about 1000 miles on it. Now I have about 40,000 miles on it and the shocks are starting to lose their control over the springs. I'm thinking of changing the shocks to koni yellows. When I change the shocks, should I replace the springs again with a new pair of Comptechs or should the pair I have now work just fine with the new shocks? Do springs loose stiffness when they are used with shocks with lower damping factors? Are the comptechs just as stiff at 40,000 miles as they were when they were new?

I am not that knowledgable about Springs but you should also consider Eibach springs to go with your Koni shocks. They would match nicely. If you want a lower drop then go with the comptech.

the springs do settle a little bit but you shouldnt need to replace them, just replace the shoks. Eibach, Koni and Kyb are very good shocks!

You will NOT need to replace the springs... just the shocks.

As for the drop.... the Eibach (Prokit: 2.1/1.7, Sportline 2.6/2.3) is actually quite lower then the Comptech (1.25/1).

according to this site, the CT springs drop is Front/Rear 1.75/1.5

Yep the Comptechs are 1.75 front and 1.5 rear. Just about. Gives the car a really nice, sleek raked look. I figured that I didn't have to change the springs when I change the shocks but I just wanted to be certain.

Thanks guys...

BTW, I do have an Eibach Pro-Kit Spring, KYB-AGX Shock and Suspension Techniques rear anti sway bar setup on my '00 Eclipse GT. That's nice for a hardcore sports car-ish feel (espically when you crank up the shock stiffness).

But I like the feel of the Comptechs on my cruise-mobile. I just don't like the underdamped springy feeling I get when I go into dips in the road at slower speeds.

I took my specs right from the Comptech website. Honestly once they settle the real drop is probably right between 1.25/1 and 1.75/1.5.. but I figured it was better to quote the manufacturer
