Questions regarding 02 Type S
Questions regarding 02 Type S
I'm trying to gauge what the worth of this car is. I've always been a fan of TL's but haven't been willing to spend the money on my 'luxery' car to buy a good 99+ TL. I usually have a sports car, sport bike, and a 94-98 Lexus as a DD.
I came across an interesting 02 Type S-but it has 180k miles, roughly 40k a year, some hail damage, and some medium damage to the passenger side. It's mostly concentrated on the front passenger quarter panel. Clear title.
I don't really care about fixing the car to be honest. My non-professional guess would be about 3500-4500 to fix it, not including paint. Not sure on the hail damage without better pictures. I just want to make sure I can sell it for what I pay for it [or more] before I make an offer.
I asked the owner about the transmission and if the timing belt/water pump job has ever been done with records. If I can't get reliable answers on the transmission I'm just going to pass. If the timing belt isn't a big issue.
Bottom line-the seller is asking about 5500 for it. I would just drive it for a year or so and sell it, just to try a TL out. I'm trying to figure out how low is the magic figure that gets my interest to a point I'm willing to put $$$ down. Right now I'm thinking even 5k wouldn't be "too" bad of a deal if the transmission and other general maint. is good, which it generally is when a car is driven a large amount of miles in only a few years as it's usually highway miles by some sort of professional.
Thanks!!
