Question Questions prior to pickup...

My TLS came in early. The dealer did a dealer trade with another dealer 2 hours away and my car is on the lot for pickup tomorrow. Herin lies the problem: They drove the car in. It now has 160 miles on the odometer and needs some other dealer's decals/pinstripe removed. Is that too many miles for a new car? I wasn't too pleased when I found out. I'd thought they'd truck it in.

What do you guys think? Too many miles? Should I wait for the shipment next week? Should I accept? Can they remove the pinstripe tape and other decals w/o paint damage? I am being rediculous?

By the way, VIN is 008505. April tags.

Incidently, exhaust height is even but the right exhaust tip is 1" to left of center on bumper notch.

they probably want to make it an April sale. I would try and get something to compensate you. A spoiler or gauge/vent kit or something. Also, make sure that you look over the detail after they remove all the junky decals. If they give you a hard time, tell them you'll wait.

160 miles is not that bad...BUT!

Even though 160 miles ain't that much miles, it just that you are not really getting a new car. See if you can get something out of it, like mud guards or a spoiler. I am sure if you complain, they will do something to compensate the extra mileage.

Question

You guys really think 160 miles is worth a $600-$700 spoiler? Already got the mud guards and the wheel locks. There is a big price difference between mud guards and a spoiler.

I would probably rather have them knock off some $$. How much? Who knows?

BS! Patience man. Do not accept the car. Get a new one! Can't guarantee that they are hosing you but take control!

Do not accept the car. Becuase 160 miles is like a demo.

I do not think that you would pay price of a new car for a demo unit.

If you did not ask them to drive it in, then it's not your responsibility.

The dealer could be lying to you. It may just be a demo unit that it had in stock.

160 miles is too much! I wouldn't take that car, not for a spoiler, not for mud guards (who the HELL wants mud guards), not for anything!

Thumbs down

Turned down the offer...unless they gonna give ya a RL for the same price..

But seriously, I would just wait for another new car if I were you. 160 miles on the clock is not acceptable.

P.S. I, for one, would take the mud guard. It looks good on the car, actually... better than I expected...

Thanks everyone for all your help and opinions.

My wife decided that she wanted one freshly unwrapped from the factory. She did not find 160 miles acceptable at all.

Incidently, I contacted the original dealership to get a history on the car. They refused to talk to me since I was actually buying it elsewhere. For this reason I strongly recommend AGAINST Stevenson Acura in Wilmington, NC. Precision Team, RIGHT! I owe Acura a call to complain.

Our dealer had no problem with our decision to wait. The next shipment arrives later this week. My WDP TL-S should be ready for me(us) before the weekend.

Has anyone every put together a list of "good" dealers/salesmen and those to avoid?

Smart choice. 160 miles is quite a lot on a NEW car. Why didn't they send a flatbed to pick it up? You probably don't want to risk the fact that someone might "hurt" your car during the break-in period. Also you can't tell whether that car has been used as a demo since it has so many miles on it already.
