the filter sits in the front right corner of the engine bay, when you wash the car, or it rains, does water hit the filter at all? water definately gets in, but does it make any contact with the short ram?

 

I don't think so... theres a rubber gasket on the hood that seals along the front of the car... where does water get in?

I'm always anal when opening my hood when the car is wet - don't want any drops hitting the filter.

on the front theres weather stripping, but on the side there is just a little lip. any concerns about that?

 

No concerns at all. You will not get the filter that wet. You don't have to worry about it.
