you DONT need clear for enamel. And also you DONT need high temp paint. So if you find a color you like better you can get that.

.... i painted my battery cover, and the paint that looked like it would match my intake looks more orange then red.... damnit...

you said you dont need high temp paint for the engine cover but...
do you need high temp paint for the brake calipers? i wanna paint them to match my car but i dont think i can get that paint in high temp

You def. need high heat engine enamel for calipers.

hey nice my car is dark dark gray n im feeling silver/chrome on my car, but not gonna over do it.....is there a paint like that (i dont believe so) wut would b a good paint for my engine cover...gimme some options...

i have some dupli-color high temp brake paint left over, do you guys think i could use that to paint my engine cover? its not in a can but its the type you use a brush to paint on could i use that?

I assume you can drive the car while this is off..? So it must be an afternoon project. And by removing the cover Im not going to mess with any thing right? Dmb question but I know crap about cars just how to drive them lol.. I wanna do this asap. I'm doing my battery cover right now.

I know there hasn't been a post in this thread for 2 years, but I had 2 questions.
1. I accidentally bought sandable primer that was black... will this screw up the color?
and
2. I bought the dupli-color Satin silver metallic (I know i probably should have bought the true mixed colors), but after 3 coats there isn't a nice shiny metallic color to it, it's a bit dull and almost no shine. Will this go away after clear coat, of should I sand it down and spray it again?

Thanks, for any help.

Hey guys I just used some high temp red for my calipers. And is there some priming I need to do? I just sanded it down REALLY REALLY good. And then do I need to put on a clear coat on top of that?

Are you talking about for the engine cover? Primer is always recommended, or a adhesion promoter for plastic. IF you use the high temp paint you used on the brakes, NO, clear is not needed.
