Question on mixing spring types for unique Fr/Rr drop heights
Question on mixing spring types for unique Fr/Rr drop heights
Are there any major negatives to mixing springs? I searched but couldn't find anything. I'm looking at dropping the car between .75" and 1.75" (basically either H&R OE or HR Sport/CT Springs). However, I am concerned with the weight of the system in the trunk so I'm waiting until that goes in so I get a better idea of the weight.
But I was thinking that it might be nice to use a 1.5" - 1.75" on the front (HR Sport) and .75" on the rear (HR OE). With the weight of the system in the back, that should push the rear end down another .25? maybe. Only thing that stinks is that I have to buy 2 sets of 4 springs and have 4 extras just laying around.
Or another idea would be .75" in the front (HR OE) and stock springs in the back. This option is nice since I only buy 1 set of 4 springs and just use 2 of them.
I want to keep the car level after the system goes in and still carry 4 passengers and not have to worry about ass sag. I don't want/need a huge drop. I've read lots of posts and most seem happier w/ ~1.5" of drop vs. the .75" (looks-wise). This is why I was thinking of mixing the HR OE (Rr) w/ the HR Sport (Fr). Not sure if unique spring rates between the different types of springs would cause a problem.
TIA.

I think you have a pretty good idea here. You have done your research on the drop levels. If the weight of your system is going to drop your ass end by .5 - .75 I would go with the HR Sports in the front and the HR OE in the rear. From wht I understand the HR OEs will give you between .75 and 1" in the back and the HR Sports will give you about 1.5 - 1.75 in the front. Is their no way you can find a place that will sell front & rears individually or as a pair??? That would save you a bunch of $$$$.
