Short Ram and Cold Air intake offer very similar performance in terms of HP and Torque, however the *slight* edge goes to a Cold Air Intake (CAI) because it draws cooler air from underneath the car. The cooler air is denser and creates a better combustion charge then hot air found under the hood with a short ram. The acual numbers are very minimal 1-2 HP and 1-2lbs TQ difference in most cases, the biggest difference is the sound. At VTEC the CAI produces a nice growl where as a short ram sounds like a beast... very loud and a bit higher pitch... hope that helped...

Well no you really dont I have installed dozens of them in the CL/CLS/TL/TLS and you do not have to remove the bumper.... goto http://www.acura-cl.net/manual.htm for a FAQ on how to do it w/o removing the bumper. Its written for the CLS so a few things dont apply for a TL but the steps are all pretty much the same...

That's because they can raised the car up over their head. Then all they had to do was remove the tire and plastic wheelwell piece. Damn I wished I had that machine that raise up the car.

BTW, my friend installed my AEM CAI without taking off the front bumper.

You dont have to lift the car or remove the bumper. Just remove the splash guard and half the wheel liner and the enitre assembly is accessible... not easy... but accessible..
