A question for every TL owner i want your thoughts...
[COLOR=blue]Well after seeing all the comments and what you all have done with your TL's and how much you all rave about this car i want your thoughts you see i just recently purchased a 2001 Lexus IS300 like 4 months ago.. and i already have a 1995 legend the last of the legends before it went into the RL TL stage of Acura development. And i'm about to trade my Legend in although i've put in alot of time and effort in putting this car together hell its my first love. But i want a new project to work on although i'm still working on my new Lexus.. i haven't really been intrested in my Legend since i got my Lexus my Finanse has been driving my Legend she doesn't like my driving BMW X5 suv and since i got my Lexus its the only thing i'm driving i love that car. And i was intrested in getting her a new vehical and trust me i will be enjoying the benefit of this Acura myself.. I wanted to get a RL but i want some speed i have the need for speed.. The dealership who i purchased my Legend from pointed me in the direction of this site saying that after i came here that if i'm not sold after discussing it with people who already owned a new line of Acura that i would never be sold so the question is with me getting ready to upgrade from Legend.. to TL what do you think of your car.. also I test drove the TL 3.2 like 2 weeks ago but i'm wondering whats the difference between TL 3.2 and the TL Type-S is it cosmetic with more features or is it from a power stand point engine wise... which is better the 3.2 TL or the TL Type-S???.... well i have few extra bucks in my pocket what is your oppinion please reply under here Thanks for your time... But now its time for a new era:
... NEXT UP TL
... NEXT UP TL

The Type-S is a faster, better handling 3.2 TL. It goes for around 2 grand more than the Premium (Base) Model.
If its for your wife mostly, I would say go for it. I don't think it would make a *great* project car, but maybe fun to mod, and tinker with here and there.
This is strictly my opinion though, when I think project car, I immediately think something like RWD, 5-speed, either a swappable engine, or good for turbo (low compression, inline engine design), or something along those lines...
The TL really isn't any of these. Don't get me wrong, Its a fun car with springs and headers, It's no joke, but I wouldn't buy this to make it the fastest or best handling thing and a bag of chips.
Which is why I say go for it. Its mostly for your wife, she can appreciate the power. You can mod it lightly, Springs, wheels maybe, sways, and headers, and its a solid ride, both of you will appreciate.

Get the TL-S and keep it stock for the wife. Keep the BMW for hauling stuff and take all that money that's burning a hole in your pockets and supercharge the IS.
Maybe when Lexus brings out the 5 spd this fall, you can get one out of a bone-yard (you just know someone will crack one up right after they get it) and retrofit that little number into your baby..... can you say 0-60 in the 5's w/300 hp and a 5 spd.

A good starting point is the Acura website, www.acura.com. Please read the basic information there first before asking more specific questions.

don't be so harsh
some people want owner impressions.
i have an 01 tl. i'm getting an 02 tl-s because i like it so much more. i like the value prop, but maybe you don't worry about that so much...individual preferences.
i looked at the m3, m5, and clks but for the money, i just didn't see it as worthwhile. but i'm just an ordinary working dude...

chill...
I agree with jusman, that the man just wants some opinions
Don't know about your gf, but mine loves my '99 TL. She always volunteers to drive on our road trips, which rarely happened before. But if your gf is anything like mine, her opinion might change if you make it less comfortable, i.e. stiffer suspension, louder exhaust, etc.
Definitely go for the typeS, not only for more hp, but also better seats, suspension and wheels. My guess is that you won't lose when it comes time to resale either.
