If you've got a amp/sub setup, this battery works perfectly. Plenty of power and durability for just about anybody. Unless you have a ridiculously power ful system, (thousands and thousands of watts) it's a good choice IMO.

Can't go wrong with Optima, Red Top 34/78 will work. Make sure it comes with the booster to raise the battery to oem level.

X2 just get the yellow top. The red top is too much for a car without an aftermarket sound system.

If I have a Pioneer Z1 along with an AMP w/ stock sub but with all new door speakers, what would be the best for me, red top or yellow?

Either one will work for you. Optima is the best of the best when it comes to batteries. I think you would be happy with whichever one you choose

so either one will be great, but what about size?

34/78, is that the size for just the red or is it good for yellow too?

The Yellow top is a Deep Cycle battery that wasn't designed to work in cars, which provide a constant source of a charge. They are designed to discharge completely and then be recharged. They can also strain your alternator. The Red Top is designed to be used in a car and will outlast a Yellow top and not risk harming your alternator.

PM uncald4, he's a vendor here on AZ specializing in car audio and he can confirm that you should be using a red top, not a yellow top.

Yellow tops are good for cars that are running systems that require a lot of constant power. Yellow tops will work fine in a car. The Red top is what I have in my car and those batteries are awesome. Either way, you won't be disappointed with an Optima. Here is the info from the Optima site.

Demand More from Your Vehicle?
The YellowTop is one of the only true dual-purpose batteries available. It is commonly used in any application that demands cranking power and heavy cycling. Trucks with winches, cars with high-demand audio systems, commercial trucks and equipment all rely on this battery to provide ultimate starting and deep cycle power.

Benefits and Applications:
Dual-purpose
Deep cycling and cranking power all packed into one battery.
Longer life
Lasts up to 2 times longer than traditional flat-plate batteries.
Higher reserve capacity
Constant performance quality, which keeps your battery running at the same level even as it's being discharged.
Optimal starting power
More power in the initial 1, 3, 5, and 10 seconds of the starting process than comparably rated conventional lead-acid batteries.
Longer shelf-life (lower self-discharge)
Ideal for seasonal use, fully charged it can sit unused for up to 12 months at room temperature (or below) and still start a vehicle.
Vibration resistance
15 times more resistant to vibration than traditional lead-acid batteries.
Leak-proof
Mountable in almost any position.

Optima Battery Your Choice of Red or Yellow

This is just for you to get an idea:
- Red: Quick drain, but quick recharge.

- Yellow: Slow drain, and slow recharge.

Quick, comparing to optima models; of course these red yellow batteries outperform other batteries. They have diff drain cycles.

So, either one will work, whatever suit your needs., and Red is cheaper. You choosing the best of the best. it can't be wrong whatever you choose.

i just confirmed with uncald4 (travis). he told me that yellow tops tend to put the strain on the alternator because its slow charge, slow drain. he suggested to get the red top because its a quick charge, and quick discharge. if you have competition stereo which means you usually leave your system blasting without the car running, then the yellow top is for you. if you're an everyday driver that has a standard system, then the red top is for you. i called the guy i bought my batteries from, and he agreed to trade me my yellow tops for the red tops
