Question about wood steering??
I want to purchase the wood steering from this site, but i want to know how much it cost to install at the dealer. I called the dealer today and ask for the quote. They told me the 1999-2000 doesn't come with wood steering. Only the 2002 come with that. I asked him if he can install that. He say They might have to little modify to make it work? Is it true or the service guy BS with me? Can anyone tell me? Thanks

Re: Question about wood steering??
I am not an expert on this but I am thinking it is BS. Another way the dealership tries to get more money out of you. There are many 199-2001 TL owner out there with the wood steering wheel. Many someone with the steering wheel can be of more help.

Three Wheelin'
I did it awhile back also. You have to disconnect the battery and work from the side when removing the airbag. Use a steering wheel puller to get the wheel off and do not turn the cable reel or you will have to center it again and if you don't know what your doing you will break it. You may have to reset the SRS light as well.

I got a wood wheel (actually a perforated leather black MDX wheel) for my '99. The dealer installed it for me for .75 hours labor.
I had subsequent SRS light problems that I was afraid were caused by the installation. First they replaced the airbag, and a couple months later they had to replace the cable reel - now everything works fine.
My point is that paying a little extra to have the dealer do it did not jeopardize my warranty. Everything was covered, and I don't know if it would have been if I had installed the wheel myself.

For SRS system failure problem when installing steering wheel.
You can disconnect the battery cables, wait for a minute, then disconnect the airbag wire.
After the installation, re-connect the battery cables, wait for a minute, then start the ignition.
This is what dealer recomendation and what I did.
