Question about radio?

Is it possible to replace just the subwoofer with something a little more powerful? I really like the bose system, and the six disc in-dash, but the bose subs suck. I had a bose system in my 97 Mercedes C280 Sport, and it beat the ever living crap out of the system in my TL. I dont need anything too crazy, but just some better/cleaner bass.

My main question is what size is the stock sub, and if I get another one, will it plug right in or do I need to get an adapter or different harness?

Thanks in advance,
John

in the past people haf installed the kicker RMB8. the oem sub is a 9" Free Air sub kinda hard to come by free airs. the other issue is getting a shallow sub. there arent many made but there are a few. (mounting depth is only like 3" or less with out movin/removing the trunk lid torsion bars

OK, so will this sub fit in the stock location without any modification, and if so, how much is it, where can I get it, and how easy is it to hook up to the stock connections?

Thanks!

Did you ever switch out the sub-woofer in your car? I was thinking about the same thing. My bro-in-law has a 94 Legend and even with the volume low you get a real nice hum. I would like to try it, because the TL could use a little help in that area. I thought Bose usually put out more than it does. I would also like to put something in that won't require any modifications.
