Help with taillight conversion harness

i was searching around and read that if i buy OEM taillights from a type S to swap to my 2000, i need to buy a new harness??

i bought some OEM taillights today off a type-s, and im wondering what exactly i need to do, i cant just unscrew the old ones and put in and connect the new ones?

also, if anyone has a walkthrough on how to properly connect the wiring and shit please put it up, i have all the nuts and bolts stuff down but im still confused around the wiring cus i heard the harness is different....also where can i buy a harness

the harness is different b/c the turn signal uses a different bulb than our 99-01 tl.. something like that.. but i know you can get the wiring harness at the dealer.. and if you want to save money get it from ray laks acura.

from what i understand, the bulbs are different therefore you would need a new harness, but i know some people just took some tape and taped the bulb in the hole

can you elaborate a little more on this? what exactly does the harness look like? id rather just tape the bulb in instead of shelling out 40 bucks

is it the little plastic ring that you stick the bulb into and then turn so it stays in place?

also can someone post up a DIY on how to do this....it looks like theres seven inverted screws on the new taillights

it's a simple plug and play mod.. just unscrew and screw in.. okay.

now,

now you will notice that the turn signal bulb is clear, so when it blinks, it will blink white.... which is illegal. so you'll try to go to the auto store to find the orange bulb.. they don't make it in that size..

so this is where the wire harness comes in, you need it so you can buy the orange bulb and put it in for it to be legal.. or what people have done, is just buy the 02-03 turn bulb (which is orange) and tape it in.. but it's messy, just..... i dunno.. if you're cheap do this.. but most are not and can easily shell out the 30$..

just get the harness and the orange bulb.

or you can go to a salvage yard, cut the wire clip for the bulb you need and splice that in place of your oem 1 and have it work

if you are going to change it out, the get the Chrome/Amber bulbs, they look way better than the fried-egg look

haahha you guys were trippin, the only reason the harness was needed is because you want to avoid the fried egg look?

i just did the swap, didnt use a harness or tape or anything, complete just unscrew and rescrew

the type-s lights i had already had bulbs in them so i just used the amber bulb that was in it, all i did was disconnect the wiring thing, unscrew the sockets, take the light out, and plug it all back in

the turn signal does look kinda "fried eggy", but i dont really care

but it was a fun install, my first DIY on the TL, i cant stop staring at the back end now, damn shes sexy
