question about intake

go AEM. If you want something that provides you with gains, but sounds stock, the comptech is the way to go, but be prepared to pay goooooood money for it!!!
icebox goes for around 400-420 cdn, while the AEM's go for about 200-250 cdn...

If you want realized gains go with AEM CAI or the Icebox. If you really like that hissing sound and a loud intake get the AEM. If you like a more stock sounding intake with good gains get the icebox. Both give you similar gains with only 1HP difference.
I personally like to keep things quiet. So my vote is for the Icebox.

As far as sound goes, a CAI and a short ram will both give you a nice rumble. I would personally stick with a short ram based on the fact that there are too many risks with the CAI, such as getting water in the intake and the fact that the filter element will have to be cleaned much more frequently than a short ram setup. If you go with a short ram, besure to remove all of the factory air ducting and the resonator box from the wheelwell. This will give you a straight path of unrestricted airflow into the engine bay. An icebox would benefit a short ram, but if you find it's too expensive, you can make one yourself fairly easily. also, the icebox shouldn't restrict the noise of the intake.

This is only because knowone has dynoed their car with the setup I and others have...also, we need not believe the dyno like the Bible, there are flaws. Just because knowone on here said that this setup gives "X" amount of gains doesnt mean it doesnt.
I challenge someone to do it - its real easy and cheep, then report back to back me up. I guarantee you will feel some more pickup when you floor it and you will love the sound. Also, I bet once you do this, you wont waste your $200 - $300 on another intake.
Think about it, this is the same thing as the Comptech Icebox...the same thing, it just doesnt say Comptech. Someone prove me wrong, then I will stand corrected.
you are simply getting rid of the restrictive stock intake resonator - that sucks in the air from behind the battery AKA the engine bay. Once you get rid of this, the engine sucks in the air from where the intake resonator was AKA behind the fender, exactly where the other intakes do. The filter just isnt down there.
I agree that a CAI has a much smoother chamber for the air, but where you are getting the gains is from replacing the stock intake resonator and the paper filter. The potentional gains from another intake seems very very minimal.

the diff was explained in the previous posts.......
u don't need to take off your bumper but its much easier if you do it that way.

Before getting the AEM you might want to check out Injen Technologies as well. From what I`ve heard, when you buy the AEM the fitting isn`t that great...where as the Injen is a perfect fit in the engine bay.
Needless to say that I have an Injen SRI...great sound but honestly minimal difference in HP.

I just got Ice Box yesterday and it's fantastic! i swear I can feel a different how the car behave when I punch on the gas. It seem that the car can breath a little easier and pull harder than before. CAI is worth every pennies too, but it's just pain in the b*tt to clean the filter. I have CAI on my Accord and it's sound much louder than Ice Box. So it's up to you. If you like loud intake sound, then AEM CAI is the way to go, but if you like more quiet sound, almost stock sound with the best gain, then Ice Box.
