Question about Insurance for a 2003
Hello, new user to this BBS - I am pretty sure (following an excellent test drive and tons of recommendations
) that I will buying a 2003 TL base model with navigation within 20 days.
In anticipation of this, I emailed my Allstate agent for a quote. I currently have a 98 Camry and a 93 Sunbird (I'm getting rid of the Sunbird - obviously an upgrade!) I asked he for quotes on replacing the Pontiac with the Acura, as well as an Audi A4 or a Maxima.)
I was shocked.... my insurance goes up with the A4 and BIG TIME ($500 every 6 months) with the Maxima, but DROPS $200/6 mo with the TL! I'm looking atAllstate gives me discounts for ABS, airbags and the traction control. I want to e-mail back and ask "Is this a typo?" I'm almost frightened to find out
Anyone with a similar experience when buying their TL? This can only make what looks like such a good value even moreso! Thanks in advance

I also have AllState insurance. My agent told me that it all depends on the location you live in, and not just your driving history, age, etc. Nice neighborhood= lower insurance rate. Bad neighborhood= higher insurance rate. The TL you are getting has a $2000 Navi system gadget. That alone will raise your insurance.
There is another way to get atleast 20% discount on your auto insurance is to by it through your home insurance company. So hope it all works out for you. Good Luck!

Is all about statistics and location.
The TL has in overall great insurance rates. I was paying $350 a month, but that was because of my record
When I bought the TL I was paying $260 a month with the eclipse(worth $15k) and $150 a month for the TL (worth $30k not anymore.
)
You should try other insurance companies like statefarm and progressive

I also have ALLSTATE still damn high to me but I got the car rental & all that stuff. I live in Washington D.C. so ofcourse the rates are going to be higher. The prices has not droped so much for me because of age 40yrs because when I get a new car the rate goes back up for that. When I had my 94 ACCORD & the rate droped down when it got 5 yrs old & I was also older I was happy. When I got the TL a few years ago the rate was back up to where the ACCORD was when it was new. I don't think you can win with insurance. They take off abit for ABS & Airbags but all new cars come with Airbags. When I got the 94 ACCORD EX it had ABS & they had just put in passenger airbag in that car. I thought about switching to GIECO but I have heard things about them. Also if you get the car what dealership are you going to?
I know ACURA west is there in Catonsville on Rt40. I got mine at Rosenthal in Gaithersburg MD. The 2 are about the same distance apart from me. I was just there this mourning to get an oil change. They had two trucks unloading new cars most TL models & MDX models. I also saw 1 RL rolling off.

Oh how sweet is is to be a USAA member! If your parents were officers in any of the armed forces, look into it. Not only are their rates good, but if they make a profit, you get it back at the end of the year, and their service beats all.

Well for starters, Allstate agents are compensated on claims history, which in my particular case, meant that I got screwed when I called my agent to report a loss. He sent out an adjuster (not an allstate adjuster) who lowballed the damage, which meant a huge PITA for me. Oh yeah, he did the SAME thing a year earlier on a hailstorm claim to my house. So much for relationships.
My loss experiences with USAA have been awesome. I don't have to fight with them to get them to approve OEM parts and quality body/paint work - you know, with Allstate/Snake Farm, you go thru hell getting them to pay the shop to remove door handles, trim pieces, etc.
That's how - but hey, diff strokes. I'd never go back to the others.

I assumed you're talking about removing handles, trim panel when refinishing panel.
I think that really depends on the adjuster who inspects the vehicle. Usually most of adjuster pay for R&I, even though that's small amount of labor. I have never seen a adjuster fight with me getting paid for R&I time. I am not sure what kind of job was performed on your car, but it's bodyshop problem that they didn't remove door handles, trim panels even though insurance comp didn't paid for it.
Again, just my thought.
Thanks, guys, I'm actually OK with Allstate, I mean the guy who's my agent was my dad's for years, and we have the multi-car discounts. Yeah, it's hell on cost just living in MD, but what can you do?
I was shocked that it cost more to ensure an Altima ior anotehr Camry...
and yea, I'm real close to Acura West in EC, although I'm also talking with Frankel Acura in Hunt Valley/Cockeysville.
