Question about HID, Projectors on 99-03 Acura TL
I'm hearing a lot of talk about HID projectors, retro fit and stuff. I'm kinda unfamilar with these terms and would like to know what they mean.
I know one thing for sure 99-03 Acura TL's come with HID, but is ours projection or what, what kind of housing our the bulbs in and what is cut-off or shield cut off?

Thats my headlights with a tsx retro fit. So 99-03 does not come with projectors, and projectors does pretty much what its called, projects your light. So it takes your headlight and projects the output, making it more intense. A cut off line is a clear visual line formed by your headlight output. Regular housing just sprays it out there and fades into the distant, projectors has a shield inside the housing that cuts the top part of the light, making a cut off line.
Just like the picture above, that is a cut off line. When you are driving and there is a car in front of you and you can see it changing colors, like from white to blue to purple, that is probably because he is hitting some bumps and the cutoff line is shifting up and down, so you see variations of the line. anyways, thats what it means.

OH thanks now its more clear to me! So the 3rd generation Acura's must have a projection housing and the 2nd generation has a reflective housing. So the 2nd generation doesn't have a cut off line at all...hahah I actually would pull up to a wall as posted in the pic above and be proud that I have a cut off line but really i don't.
So the only benefit the projector housing has is that it makes the HID light sharper and intense?

Its a bit toned down but I had semi foggy headlights so I polished them out and they are better now. Make sure you aim them correctly. When you are aiming them, dont just aim them at 5-10ft, that will do you no good. You have to go out on the street and see, because I did the samething, I measured from the end of the garage to the wall and when I use them at night, they were way too low. just fyi
