Question about front turn signal bulbs

For our front turn signal bulbs we use bulbs that have 2 filaments, one that is always on when you turn the lights on, and one that turn on when you click the corner blinkers. My question is, can I use the lightbulbs that we use for the rear corner blinkers in the front (1 filament) so that it won't turn on when headlights are on, but will when click on the corner blinkers? Or are they just different wattages and will simply not work? I saw a 2003 TL once and he had both of the front corner blinkers at night off... maybe he did this, or maybe both of the courtesy filaments were burnt.

I just answered a similar qustion in NJTLS new thread... I believe your logic is correct and it shoudl work. But then again, logic is one thing and reality is another.

I am almost 100 percent sure it should work because on my old car i had an alarm that when it was armed or disarmed the lower filament would blink , one day the lower filament blew but the higher filament still worked.

I know that if the lower filament burns out the higher filament will still work (happened to me once already). My question is if the front turn signals would work if I use bulbs that only have ONE filament (like the ones on the rear turn signals) instead of using the regular bulbs with 2 filaments which are the ones we are suppose to use.

i just guessing....but i dont think it will work because the contacts wont line up...single filiment bulbs have one contact centered ( o ) on the bulb and dual filiments have two ( oo )....so either the contact form the single filiment would touch the conection or it'd jump both of them....

Once I had what you were looking for. The dealer just said one of the filaments were bad. I like the idea of just covering one of the contacts.
