Question about car idle

My 2002 tl-s has been idling a little funny lately. I'm sure some of you have heard the sound of an idle that goes up and down. It is not rough or anything, but the idle will go and down gradually. It has only happened two or three times. I have 85000 miles with a remanufactured tranny. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a IAC valve. Its mounted on the bottom of the Throttle Body and needs to be either replaced or taken off and cleaned with carb cleaner

Question IAC Valvle help

Thanks for the response. My friend at Acura said the same thing. Is it hard to clean or replace? If I replace it how much does a new one run? How long will it last if I clean it? Does anyone have instructions and/or pictures for this type of job? God Bless and thanks again.

It's about $100-120. It's fairly simple to remove. It's probably worth to at least try to clean it first. Then, if that doesn't work, replace it.

Its part #2. Its held on with 2 screws from the bottom. Get a short stubby screw driver and remove the 2 screws. Once out carb cleaner and qtips or a small brush to clean the orfice out.
