question about 6k bulbs
question about 6k bulbs
I installed them finally tonight and I was wondering...how many hours before they show their true colors? They start out dark blue right now and fade to light blue then eventually to white..I've seen them with projector headlights and they r really purple..Is it cause these headlights are reflectors? thanks
With projectors you get the prism effect so the light looks more blue and purple. I've been using my 6000k for some time now, the color looks the same to me. It gives a slight contrast than stock HIDs that ppl may notice, but won't attract cops like 7000k or 8000k

What do you want, performance or a nifty color?

I know they are not as good as 4300k but I needed bulbs fast and these were the best price i could get... My main question is that after a couple of hours of being on will they start to even look like stock color because they are Just plain white right now and almost even a yellow tint... By the way guys u better do ur homework a little more..Just cause it's projector doesn't mean the 4300k will look purple... It depends on the way the projector was made.. Most after market pojectors make 4300k look white... I just want the light to look stock or like any other stock hid system ..just not white.

6000k looks really, really nice, but unfortunately not as bright as what 4300k ares. The best time you truly appreciate having 4300k is when you hit those really dark black streets, the 6000k can't produce **** on that, but once you hit lighter color roads...it's a beautiful color
hehehe..I was right now they r turning purple...
i turned the entire parking deck purple today at school
By the way they are not philips and are some other brond made from korea...they are good quality especially since i got them shipped here in 5 days for 150 for both bulbs... They look really nice... PS whatever brand they are they are not as the stock which burned out in less than 2 years

I'd stick with German made bulbs aMiR.
One of the greatest differences that I see with the 6000K, (because of its blue/white color) it reflects better off of road signs and anything that's shiny compared to the 4300K. Remember that the 4300K is not completely white, because according to all the light gurus 4300K is the maximum illumination (if you want to call it that) matching it with the color of the sun (since the sun is the brightest source of light). Although there is a little less light output with the 6000K, you can barely notice the difference and I live in a fairly well lighted area, and they are still brighter than halogens.

HID can last even longer than your car's life. My 6000k is still white/purple-ish. They are Philips and they don't turn white after it's fully warmed up. You may get used to it and think it's getting white. But if you pull up next to a stock HID car, you'll notice 6000k is more blue/purple. I know I'm loosing some actual useable light, but I'll take 6000k anytime over stock HID.
Check out some of these pics of my 6000k in a very dense fog
