Officially, it is supposed to stand for Touring Luxury. I don't know about the CL - Compact Luxury?

According to the magazine published by Honda, the letters are as follows:

RL - Royal Luxury
TL - Touring Luxury
CL - Contemporary Luxury

Type P - Premium
Type S - Speed
Type R - Racing

Acura publications listing specs describe all non-TL Type S models as Type P (Premium). Techincally that means if you don't have a Type S you have a Type P (base TL). The Nav can be on a Type-P or Type-S.

Show me!!!!!!!!

It makes the TL sound so stupid. TLP

It's the base model, why would they called it premium, it had to be some ediot on some magazine.

Still is not call Type P just P.

The 2002 non-S is called a TL-P in the manual.

Type-S
&
TL-P

I don't believe it is referred to anywhere as a "Type P"

According to an old Car & Driver magazine issue, the letters RL stand for Road Luxury, not Royal Luxury. What is luxurious about a road you ask? I have no idea.

My bad.....yes I should have just put the P instead of Type P. But Acura does refer to the TL as the TL-P or TL Premium. Go figure. I agree it makes no sense since just TL by itself makes it different from other models.
