Push button start
Has anyone tried to install an S2000 push start button in their TL? I'd like to put one in, and I can't see why it wouldn't work as long as the key is in the ignition for the transponder to work. I saw this on the RSX forum and was curious.

Hm that would be interesting to see. Would it be you put the key in the igintion and then a seperate button to start it but you dont have to turn the key?

Yeah, the Bluetooth option would be tight. A little more than just the $30 for the S2000 push button and a $3 relay, but much more practical than putting the key in and then pushing a button. I wonder what something like that would run.
Hooking it to the starter is pretty simple, it just involves a relay and tapping the pos and neg. I'm going to look for a Bluetooth module to check the price, the only problem I see is whether the keys are compatible. Are you talking about the new RL or pre 2005? I suppose I could hack up a key...

As soon as I get around to ordering the Start button. I'll probably put it in first so that the key is needed in the ignition and research the Bluetooth method a little further. I think I'll mount it in the cigarette lighter/power outlet.

I would probably do the work myself, the kits are pretty cheap. Remote start usually still requires the key, I wonder if any just need the remote or can be rigged to woek in some way.

the problem with this is that your still going to need your key on the ignition, your car would not see your chipped key and it would start
now i have seen a guy take his ing cylinder and run it down to his cup holders, and when you looked in the cup holder you seen the ign ring that lights up
soooo he would just in his car, throw his keys in the cup hold and push the start button.
seems like too much of a pain to me, but to each his own.
just thought id throw that out there

you might be able to but it would leave your vehicle in danger of some idiot coming along and starting your car with anything... i could be wrong there might be something out there i don't know about.
off the top of my head i don't know what you could use, other than another factory part and key pad to get the car to recognize you and enable the car to start.
you could use a button to stop the car, but with the effort of that, you might as well just turn the key
throw a r/s unit in there and call it a day..... and if you want to use your factory key pad, its actually allot easier than people think..... we just did it to one of the other installers i work with

the 05 RL with SH-AWD in my garage has wireless keys, and for all practicle purposes has 'push start' like feel with it's starter. Just flick and the car starts up, no holding.
You can start the car and leave with your keys though. Not sure if it's as good as it sounds.

I was thinking more along the line of the Infiniti Ms. I believe it is bluetooth also, but not 100% sure. Doing that kind of mod would be more than just tapping into the wiring of the car because it's all computerized. I was just talking to my boss about this mod the other day. It would be one hell of a project. I'll do my research since I have about 3 friends who own Ms then get back to you Acuraziners.

A perfect push button start would be, all you need is to have the keys in your pocket and you just get in and push the button with foot on brake and it starts. I don't know what that involves needing, but thats what I want.

is this the wiring diagram for the 7th gen accord or the tl? . i bought a push starter and tested out wiring up my stuff too (but my car is a manual, things might have to be done differently). I ended up sayin screw it, and i gave the start button to my best friend and used the relay i bought to wire up HIDs to my foglights . you you can convince me that i can do this to a 3rd gen CL 6 speed ECU, id start the project over again in a heartbeat

ok its an old tread but you can use rfid to be used as the smart key just place it some spot so you can put you key over it and the key has to have a rfid tag & the rfid detects the key it would activate the 1 and 2 stage ( your goanna have to wire up a sircuit so when it hits a signal it activates 1 and 2 ) and wile it hits the 2 stage it sends a signal to the remote start by pass module ( that has one of your key in their) and all you are left over is just pushing the start button.
i will be doing this to my car in the next month or two But i wanna get a hold of the push start like the new tl's have installed.
I know its a little confusing but its just brain storming> but that bluetooth thing would not work.

another addition to this is figuring out a way to unlock your stirring wheel when the rfid reader detects your tag, it hard but ill see if i can get this done
