Mine started clicking a few months ago, and now is going crazy....In the past month or so I have seen a decline in power in the low end and a heavy reduction in fuel mileage...I was steady getting 325 mpt city for a year and a half and now I am getting 275....


Could the purge valve be the root of my problem?
Has anybody changed theirs and noticed any changes?

Just change it. It only costs like $40, and some people have reported similar issues with the clicking.

It seems to be a problematic part, so the new one might click too. If it does, hassle the dealer to give you a new one. Should come with a 10k warranty.

Mine has been clicking since around the 2nd year of ownership and i have never had a reduction in power or mileage.

If it bothers you just change it.

The clicking doesn;t phase me compared to the loss in mpg and performance...

I just cleaned the egr, replaced plugs 15k ago...Everything is up to par with the exception of a timing belt service, however the valve adjustment was done a few thousand miles ago...
Any ideas?

Try changing the purge valve solenoid lol. It usually ticks to some degree, but if it just started being extra loud at the same time as your MPG and HP loss...

Who did the valve adjustment? Bad job could lead to loss of MPG and Power, at the very least.
