Project Upcoming 3.5L 6-Speed
Hello all,
Well to solve my desire for power and to get rid of the crapamatic transmission i am doing a 6-speed swap with j35 internals...i will be getting a CL 6-speed motor/tranny and the build on the motor as of right now will be as follows
MDX Crank and Rods
RL pistons and Cams
Ported and Polished heads
Ported and Polished Intake manifold and Throttle Body
I will be putting a Spec Stage 3 clutch and a lightweight flywheel
With this swap i think i will be in the range of 285 whp and about 260 torque...these are geusstimates but it is about what it should gain...nothing has been bought yet but i have the parts available to me...i just have to come up with the cash...this power should put the car between a 12.8-13.3 in the 1/4

Dont get that clutch from what I've read its just a painted OEM Accord V6 clutch. Good luck with that , I'll be doing my tranny swap by the end of the summer and may look into that 3.5 also.

I wanna order stuff piece by piece so when I'm ready all I need to get is the tranny. But I tell you man a boosted 6spd 2nd Gen is like heaven, everytime i'm in it or see it I come out smiling.

Interesting.... I was going to look into doing the swap when my tranny finally goes out. I want to see how it goes and see what the power and price difference are to see which one I want to do.

yeah the 6 speed is definatly worth the money...i am about to get a brand new automatic trans from the dealership under warranty...when i do the swap i will sell this tranny...it will have very low miles on it...ill probably ask $1500 since new they are over $2500

me and my brother were talking the other day, and we were thinking how hard it would be to put a type S cl motor in his 5th gen ('98) prelude. when it gets high miles on it and the tranny goes out, would it be too much for all of this custom work? would it even fit? or should we just get a turbo kit for a low mileage 5th gen prelude motor from a junkyard?
sorry for highjacking

I may not know any of you guys....but normally on a forum you post pics or reciepts of you build and then a dyno sheet.....
i still get flamed for doing a build up even though i provide pics...so i said F-it and deleted all threads till i am done.
I wish you good luck and hope it all comes together for you!

Dont want to be a hater or anything but you wont run a 12.8-13.3 with that power, i would say maybe with slicks on yes, but you will have insane traction problems with it being in a FWD car. Id give you low 14s on street tires.
But yea, very creative build....and good luck

Stock CL-S run low 14s? .......Right
Consider the fact that he will have ~50 more whp when its all said and done.
You cant deny he will not have traction problems with that kind of Tq in a car that weighs that much in a FWD platform.
With drag radials or slicks i give the car low 13s like i said.
But everyone has an opinion though...people can say "well stock cl-s runs low 14s(which is BS), so my car which has more power will be able to run this"
You never know until you finish the car and run it at the track
Just my opinion though

Forget about 1/4mile times dammit...that's not why you should building a motor on a TL
Have you thought about bumping the CR to make the 285whp that you want. engine management? maybe you'll design the first adjustable cam for us too. good luck on the build

The F20C and F22C run compression that high and are boosted all the time.

I ran 13.3 @ 108 MPH with 295whp and 242wtq in an automatic.
I ran low 14's (14.1 @101MPH) with 225whp and 182wtq in an automatic.
Both on all season 17" tires.
