Problem with rear mirror

My rearview mirror is stuck on the mode where it's all dark, even in day light. Anyone have same problem? is there fixes or I will have to buy new one?

This is my first post in a long long time as an old original member.
I go under FTM-1 or FTM as usernames. I have a somewhat stranger problem with my rearveiw mirror. My car is a 2000TL purchased new by me 12/28/99. The problem I have is few days ago I drove the car & the mirrior was fine & worked fine in the auto dim mode as normal. When I got into the car the next day the mirror had a oval type large spot in the glass. The mirror was distorted in that spot. I went out yesterday to get the info to call the dealer & that spot had gotton bingger in the glass.I called the dealer & go in on Monday. This mourning I went out early at around 4:30AM & the mirror had a black waterry ink like liquid comming from the bottom of it around the auto dim button. I got it on my finger when pushing the button for auto dim. the mirrior now is badly distorted.
I have never used any harsh sprays or anything on the mirrior & I am the only one that washes my car or has acces to it. I was out of warranty on 12/28/03 but hope ACURA dealer will fix in good faith. The service advisor told me the part was $160 yesterday this was befor I notice the liquid so its nothing I did to the mirrior.

I just got mine replaced under warranty. Only a small portion would dim. The dealer didn't seem too surprised and said other TLs have had problems with the mirror.

I had the halo-ing problem in my CL, fixed under warranty. HTM, I noticed the other day, while driving at dusk with windows down and sunroof all the way back, the mirror looked really dark for some reason. I leave mine on Auto all the time.

A new mirror can be purchased for ~$80 from RayLaks.com. I replaced mine recently; it only dimmed in an oval in the center after 4 years.

PS: By god, don't let any of that liquid drip onto your console, it is HIGHLY corrosive to plastic.

if your acura dealer doesnt replace it under warranty, you can get warranty from the mirror manufacture. I just installed my free mirror about 2 weeks ago.
Contact jean.glover@magnadon.com

describe your problem and give her this info: Mirror type is camlock, part (model) number 011530

It took several weeks to get it, it is manufactured in ireland, but it was free so that was cool with me.
Installation took less than 15 mins

Yeah, there was no charge. I still have a year left on my basic warranty. I figured better to take it in now and if the new one breaks, I can get one more before my warranty is up. I'm glad that the old mirror didn't leak any of that nasty liquid.

That nasty liquid already got on the chrome trim part around the gear shift & the black part next to it. I covered the Nav screen & other areas with a shop towel yesterday. It looks like its done leaking. But yes the stuff did do damage to the chrome part just as you said Severin.

At least the Chrome plate is easy to remove and replace...
